FULCHER - FULCHER, Jefferson, James--My g-g-g-grandfather, Jefferson FULCHER, moved to Jackson Co. Alabama from Virginia between 1830 and 1850. Family tradition says that his father was James FULCHER, who settled in Lowesville. Tradition also says that Jefferson's son, Henry Clay, was born in Lynchburg. Jefferson was born in 1815, from the 1850 Alabama Fed census, the only census that Jefferson ever appears in. I believe that this is because he lived with his parents in VA through the 1830 census, when children weren't listed by name. Then, he left home and fought in the Creek War which probably kept him out of the 1840 federal census. I need to find Jefferson's parents so that I can trace my branch of the FULCHERS back to England. Please help. Clay Fulcher, [email protected]

Thomas and Sally moved to Nicholas/Bourbon Co area in Kentucky in the early 1800's, where he died in 1814. Sally lived in Nicholas Co. past 1850. They had five children, William T., Belinda, Nancy, Nelson, and Thomas. Around 1830, the children began using the name "Slane", even Sally is referred to as "Slane" in later tax records. WARE, VEAL, THURMOND, TUCKER, POWELL - I am interested in corresponding with descendants of Edwar WARE and Lettice POWELL, Carnaby VEAL, and Philip TURMOND and Judith TUCKER. My great great great great grandparents, James WARE and Lettice WARE were both born 1779 and 1783, respectively, in Amherst Co., VA. Their fathers, James and Edward WARE were sons of Edward WARE and Lettice POWELL who came from Caroline Co., VA. Edward and Lettice also had; William WARE, John WARE, Elizabeth WARE, Anne WARE and Sarah Ware. Often times these children were known as POWELLS due to the fact that their parents were not married until later. Edward WARE, father of James and Edward, was a son of Nicholas WARE who died in the 1740s in Caroline Co., VA. His mother may have been a GRESHAM or a GARROTT. Lettice POWELL was very likely daughter of Thomas POWELL and Mary PLACE. James WARE, son of Edward and Lettice, married Mary VEAL, daughter of Carnaby VEAL, and his brother, Edward WARE, married Sarah THURMOND, daughter of Philip THURMOND and Judith TUCKER. Who were Judith's parents? Who was Mary VEAL WARE's mother? Would like to correspond with anyone having information on these families. Elizabeth SMITH BROCKMAN later married W. W. EMBREE and removed to Kentucky. According to published information, Elizabeth SMITH BROCKMAN was a daughter of Thomas SMITH and his wife, Elizabeth. Was she an EMBREE?? John BROCKMAN was born in Orange Co., VA to William BROCKMAN. Who was his mother? Was she also an Elizabeth EMBREE? Any help appreciated. I have seen the BROCKMAN SCRAPBOOK and that series and have found many, many errors. Also, the generations are not correct in that book.
