SETTLERS of 1835
The year 1835 witnessed a large influx of traders adventurers speculators and home-seekers. Some of them pushed back into the country, some reside here still, a large number are dead, and the balance either returned home soon after their arrival, or afterward emigrated to other localities. A complete list of those who came in 1835 will never be made but the following comprises about all who remained long enough to be remembered as settlers."
