Here are some of the gravestones found in the churchyard of St. Peter's. Although more than 20 gravestones are over two centuries old, none have be given listed status, unlike a number of similar stones at St Giles in the Wood, and St Mary's, Atherington.

William KEMP, son of James KEMP and Elizabeth, was born at Tawstock on 2 Aug 1793, baptised at Tawstock on 10 Aug 1793, and was buried there on 12 Sep 1797. His sister, Mary KEMP, was born at Tawstock on 15 Feb 1791, baptised at Tawstock on 18 Apr 1791, and was buried there on 13 Aug 1815.

This gravestone to Hugh MOOR and his wife Elizabeth is the oldest monument in the churchyard. According to the St Peter's, Tawstock parish register, Hugh MOOR was buried on 4 Feb 1754, while his wife, Elizabeth, was buried on 20 Oct 1728, not 1738 as recorded on the gravestone.

John MOORE, son of John MOORE (1713-1766) and Emin was baptised at Tawstock on 6 Apr 1758, and was buried on 15 Apr 1830. John married Sarah LOVERING, daughter of Thomas LOVERING and Elizabeth, at Tawstock on 24 Nov 1779. Sarah was baptised at Tawstock on 17 Sep 1760.

Robert MOORE, son of John MOORE (1758-1830) and Sarah LOVERING (1760-1840), was born in Tawstock on 12 Dec 1790. His birth date, but not his baptism date, is recorded in the Tawstock parish register.

George Searls SLOOMAN, son of Samuel SLOOMAN (1785-1832) and Mary PEARCE (1780-1831), was baptised at Tawstock on 29 Jun 1809, and was buried there on 24 Feb 1810, not in 1809 as his gravestone would suggest. His brother, William Pearce SLOOMAN, was baptised at Tawstock on 25 Oct 1806, and was buried there on 11 Jul 1829.

Margaret, the daughter of John LAVERCOMBE and Joan, was baptised on Bratton Fleming, Devon on 17 Mar 1733, and was buried at Tawstock on 14 May 1809. It is uncertain why the dates recorded on the gravestone are off by 20 years.

Their daughter, Susanna THORNE, was born on 3 Oct 1784, was baptised at Tawstock on 31 Oct 1784, and was buried there on 15 Jun 1786. Their son, John THORNE, was born on 2 Jun 1787, was baptised at Tawstock on 27 Jun 1787, and was buried there on 31 Mar 1789. He married Prudence HUXTABLE, daughter of William HUXTABLE (1725-1802) and Mary HILL, at Tawstock on 14 Jan 1807. She was baptised at Tawstock on 7 Aug 1779. Their daughter Grace was baptised at Tawstock on 27 Apr 1815 and was buried there on 2 Oct 1818. Their son Michael was baptised at Tawstock on 7 Oct 1807 and was buried there on 17 Aug 1820.
