The Trail Drivers of Texas, By J. Marvin Hunter
This a collection of stories told by old time cattle drivers and other people living in mostly south Texas between the end of the Civil War and the early 1900's. About 30% of the stories are about people living in the San Antonio area but many are about other individuals throughout south Texas. Most stories pertain to cattle drivers but many are about events and everyday life as it was in the late 1800's in south Texas. Some genealogical data but mostly interesting stories about people you could be researching. Book has index of all individuals mentioned in it.

Early Texas Birth Records (1833-1878), By Alice Duggan Gracy, Jane Sumner, Emma Gene Gentry
This book is a compilation of early birth records for the 148 Texas counties that were organized in time to have recorded births in the 1870's. Therefore, most of the birth records are from the 1870's with a good number from the 1860's. There is a scattering of birth records prior to the 1860's all the way back to the 1830's. Counties covered in the first section are: Austin, Bandera, Bastrop, Bell, Bexar, Brazos, Burnet, Caldwell, Colorado, Comal, Comanche, DeWitt, Fayette, Gillespie, Grimes, Hays, Kendall, Lavaco, Lee, Medina, Menard, Nacogdoches, San Sabe, Travis and Victoria.

The second section of the book covers records from:Anderson, Cameron, Cass, Cherokee, Dallas, Fannin, Gregg, Jasper, Kaufman, Lamar, Marion, Navarro, Nueces, Rusk, Somervell, Upshur, Washington, and Webb. The remaining counties not listed above either did not have birth records recorded or the records were closed.
