Laredo is the county seat of Webb County. See a panorama of Larado in 1920. Webb County was formed from Nueces County on 28 January 1848, and organized on 16 March 1848. It was named in honor of James Webb (1792-1856), the Attorney General and Secretary of State of the Republic of Texas from 1838 to 1841. Laredo, the county seat, was founded in 1755.
