Franklin A. Harrison : Fri Jan 03 12:27:56 1997
Subject: HARRISON Family: About 1840, great-great grandfather- (?) William Benjamin Franklin HARRISON. Have just the name and not sure about it. Had at least two sons. J.J. and Henry. Walter Lee Harrison remembered meeting "Uncle John", said he thought there were" five sons in all and a daughter or two. I just don't remember". Richard Franklin Harrison said the he used a different name, but that was his real name. Great-grandfather J.J. Harrison m. Elizabeth Newsome of Anderson County, TX in 1867. They had at least five children, probably more, not sure.
Mary Elizabeth, called "lizziebeth," by RFH m. Palmer Killian.
Callie Creci Frances, Aunt Callie, m. a Golden, m. Hosea Lucas, Luella's brother. Stated that       some of the family had the "home place" and she was going to "get a lawyer and get it back".
James Henry m. Luella Lucas (Ardella's cousin).
Richard Franklin, m. Belle Worke, m. Ardella Lucas.
Benjamin Franklin d. at about age of eight, RFH said that he was "about six when he died."
Served in infantry CSA. Received pension. Later in Confederate Veterans home in Austin. Checked out 1918.

Grandfather Richard Franklin Harrison was born in Neches, Texas. Raised near Brushy Creek by Uncle Dock Newsome. He worked as a farm laborer, sharecropper, and sawyer. He married:
    m. Belle Worke of Cherokee County circa 1905. One son Floyd Harrison, died young.
    m. Ardella Lucas of Cherokee County circa 1909.
        Four children:
          Stewart Franklin Harrison died WWII.
Lucy died of kidney failure in 1947.
Walter Lee, my father, d. 1993.
          Ethel Mae m. Neal Newland.
They had two sons: Richard Doyle and Robert Lee Newland.
That is all that I have on my branch of the Harrison Family. If there is anyone doing research on this line I would very much like some help in getting it straightened out.

Searching for any information about my grandfather buried in Trevat Cemetery just after the turn of the century (1900). He was named J. Emmit. TOMLIN and was married to Uretha Daisy THOMPSON. They had two little boys under four when he died. My father, Earl TOMLIN and his brother Adair TOMLIN. Daisy went on to remarry Uriah Ervin MONROE and had other children.

These families, TOMLIN, THOMPSON, MONROE and perhaps SIMS came to Texas in the late 1890's and settled around Alabama Creek, the Trevat Church and community. They later moved to Cherokee County.
