County Superintendent of Public Instruction

The county superintendent of Public Instruction was by virtue of his office Secretary of the County Board of Education.  Prior to the establishment of the position of County Superintendent, the County Judge had that responsibility.  County Superintendents were:  C.H. Crow 1902-1907; J.W. Bright 1907-1910; W. B. Mills 1910-1917; J.C. Ingram 1917-1920; W.A. Reese 1920-1924; H.E. Gibson 1924-1930; W.B. Mills 1930-1934; C.A. Brannen 1934-1942; Mrs. Edna Hamilton 1942-1946; Calvin Moore 1946-1958; J.V. Price 1958-to the consolidation of county schools with independent school districts.

Tax Assessors of Trinity County

The Tax Assessor of Trinity County was also the Tax Collector for the years 1852 to 1882 and from 1937 to 1986.  The Tax Collector with date of elections have been:  W. Z. McClain, august 2, 1852; George K. Spring 1854; J. Turner Evans 1854; L.M. McClendon 1856; A.J. West 1858; Andrew Frisby 1860; William d. Hood 1861; Elbert B. Harper 1862; Joseph Evans 1865; W.B. Worthington 1869; C.D. Warner 1878; S.G. Thornton 1894; Charles West 1896; J.D. Moulder 1902; Dave Chandler 1904; Tamp Cox 1906; W.W. Martin 1910; Polk Scarborough 1914; Albert J. Hutson 1930; Hayne Young 1934; W.L. Huston 1940; Darwin Creasy 1960-deceased October 13, 1984; Clara Hathorn 1984-incumbant 1986.

Tax Collectors of Trinity County

The Tax Assessor was also the Tax Collector from 1852-to 1882 and from 1937-1986.  The Sheriff was also Tax Collector from 1882-1900.  Other Tax Collectors with date of election have been:  Paul McGarr 1890; C.H. Kenley 1900; R.T. Walker 1902; Crit Chandler 1908; W.L. Hutson 1912; John W. Harkins 1917; Clifton Dominy 1920; H.F. Womack 1922; Burrel Lott 1924; Royal M. Browder 1928-1932.

Public Weighers of Trinity County

Trinity county had Public Weighers from 1908-1942.  They were T.C. Huston 1908; G.C. Hutson 1910; Wesley Lee 1914; Roscoe Eaves 1914; WM. Kendrick 1918; H.J. Lott 1924; Oscar Parker 1926; W.P. White 1926; Ross Bane 1932; Mrs. Lillie Jordan 1935; W.N. McClain 1936; Arthur Due 1936; J.B. Hansard 1938; W.N. McClain 1940.

Trinity County Surveyors

The first Trinity County Surveyor was John E. Baumgarthen, elected April 14, 1855.  Others with date of election were:  John W. Harrison 1856; George Gibson 1858; John W. Hamilton 1864; George Gibson 1865; O.T. Touchstone 1869; J. Bradshaw 1870; George Gibson 1870; O.C. Holland 1878; George Gibson 1880; H.W. Pennington 1882; B.H. Jones 1894; George Gibson 1896; J.B.
