Markham Buried at Happy Funeral services for Mrs. Wm. F. Markham, 84, widow of a former pastor of the First Baptist Church at Happy, were held Wednesday afternoon in Canyon. Burial was in Happy Cemetery. Mrs. Markham died Tuesday morning in a Canyon convalescent home. She was the mother of Mrs. Jack McManigal of Canyon. Rev. Mr. Markham died in 1963. The Tulia Herald 20 January 1963 Former Happy Pastor Is Buried Tuesday Rev. W. F. Markham, 82, retired Baptist minister, died early Sunday morning in the Littlefield hospital. Last rites were held Tuesday afternoon at the Farwell First Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. J. L. Bass, officiating. Burial was in Happy Cemetery under direction of Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Mr. Markham, born Jan. 28, 1881, at Willow Point in Wise County, graduated from Simmons College, now Hardin-Simmons University, in 1923. He held pastorates in Spur, Seminole and had been pastor of the Happy Baptist Church in 1926 and 1927. He had been a resident of Farwell since his retirement in 1948. On Oct. 16, 1904, he married Miss Effie Vernon at Haskell. Survivors include his wife of Farwell; a daughter, Mrs. Jack McManigal of Canyon; a sister, Mrs. George Beer of Nampa, Idaho, and one grandson, Mike McManigal of Clovis, N. M.
