Obituaries 1968

Sample, Manor Fields Services for Manor F. Sample, 82, a longtime Tulia resident, will be at 2 p.m. today in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. c. Melvin Ratheal of Tucson, Ariz. officiating, assisted by the Rev. Francis L. Wilson of Lubbock. Graveside rites will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Pecan Grove Memorial Park in McKinney with Turrentine Jackson Funeral Directors in charge. Local arrangements were by Henderson Funeral Directors. Sample, a retired tailor, died at 10 a.m. Friday in West Texas Hospital following a brief illness. He attended the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin and was active in the Silent Dept. of the church. A native of Giddings, he came to Lubbock in 1967 to live with his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Benet of 3612 36th St. Other survivors include his wife, LENA MAE BATES SAMPLE, two brothers, Roy of Cameron, and Homer of Fort Worth; and a sister, Mrs. Si Youngkin of Yoakum.  Lubbock Avalanche Journal, 9 August 1968.
