WALDO, DUNCAN, COSLEY, LAWRENCE

My great great grandfather was David WALDO, born in 1831 and died in 1869.  I cannot find any trace of him prior to the 1850 census when he was 19 years old, living with a DUNCAN family in Jasper County, Missouri.  He was listed as David WALDO DUNCAN.  On October 20, 1850, eight days after the census was taken, he married Nancy COSLEY in Jasper County, Missouri.  He married under the name of Waldo DUNCAN.  The 1860 census shows him as David WALDO and wife Nancy, along with children, in Taney County, Missouri.  The 1870 census shows only Nancy WALDO as head of the household and widowed in Taney County along with her children.  David WALDO was apparently a Private in the Union Calvary during the Civil War and Nancy later applied for a widow's pension which was denied.  1866 papers show David and Nancy WALDO sold 39 acres of land in Taney County to Henry LAWRENCE for $180.  Also listed on the 1850 census was a John DUNCAN.  I cannot find the parents of John DUNCAN who was 29 in the 1850 census or his wife, Katherine's maiden name or parents.  I can trace their son, who was 5 on the 1850 census, to his obituary.  He was born in Dade County, Missouri but my search of Dade County for news or my David WALDO (DUNCAN) was to no avail.  Any information on David or Nancy WALDO (DUNCAN) is very important to our family.  Please contact Mary Linda WALDO Gay at [email protected] if you have any information.
