First Texas Colony

The Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Texas

On September 26, 2020, the first meeting of the newly established First Texas Colony of The Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Texas was held.   Members of The Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Texas living in the central Texas area had been exploring ways to become connected on a local level through fellowship and community service.   The decision was made to propose the establishment of a first ever Colony in the Great State of Texas.   The petition for this Colony proposal was submitted to and accepted by the Council of The Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Texas and Governor William F. Cole.

Governor Cole officially recognized the First Texas Colony on March 20, 2020 and duly authorized it to promote the ideals of The General Society of Colonial Wars and support the growth and membership in The Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Texas.   To this end, at our very first meeting, our Warrior members discussed ways to connect with our local schools and community to share our American Colonial history.   The First Texas Colony Warriors agreed to actively search for opportunities to connect with our local community through schools, organized community events and by providing speakers to appropriate community gatherings and other local heritage society meetings to create a heightened interest in The General Society of Colonial Wars and to share the stories of our heroic ancestor’s actions during this crucial era of our nation.   In fact, one of our Warrior members has already discussed our Society and the defenders of the Colonies with elementary students during their study of the pre-revolutionary era.

First Texas Colony Governor Shiidon Hawley presided over our first meeting and under his leadership the immediate goals of our Colony were identified; to establish our Colony Bylaws and Colony officer leadership positions.   It is hoped that the First Texas Colony will serve as a model for many other Colonies to be formed and that their establishment will join with us in providing a strong advocacy for The Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Texas to grow membership and prosper through the common bond in America’s proud Colonial past said Governor William F. Cole.
