SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Thursday, April 19, 2001 Aubrey Williams 1917-2001 Aubrey Williams, a life-long resident of Scurry County, died this morning at his home near Hermleigh after a brief illness. Funeral service for Mr. Williams, 83, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church in Hermleigh. The Rev. Rex Reynolds, pastor; The Rev. Danny Williams, a nephew; and the Rev. Tommy Williams, a brother; will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hermleigh Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Born June 28, 1917 in Hermleigh, he married Rosie Kuss on Oct. 15, 1939 in Sweetwater. A lifetime Hermleigh area resident, Mr. Williams was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Hermleigh First Baptist Church. The third of 14 children, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Delia Reed Williams; a sister, Mary Lee Williams; and three brothers, G.B. Williams, Roscie Williams and Bob Williams. Survivors include his wife, Rosie Williams of Hermleigh; two sons, David Williams of Snyder and Aubrey Williams of Hermleigh; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Virginia Williams of Hermleigh, Janie and Rodger Sullenger and Betty and Derwin Thompson, all of Snyder, and Ruby and A.E. “Ned” Gates of San Antonio; four sisters, Loreta Hallman of Inadale, Sybil Minyard and Juanita Grover, both of Snyder, and Izora Browning of Midland; five brothers, F.R. “Bear” Williams of Snyder, Wint Williams and Fred Williams, both of Odessa, Tommy Williams of Belgrade, Mont., and Ted Williams of Post; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Michael Williams Stephen Sullenger, Jeffrey Gates, Travis Gates, Samuel Gates, all grandsons, and a nephew, Ricky Williams, will serve as pallbearers. Friends are contributing to the Alzheimer’s Association South Plains Chapter, 3601 4th Street in Lubbock, 79430. Lunch for the family will be served at noon Saturday at the Hermleigh First Baptist Church.
