CHILES, ELDREDGE, ELDRIDGE, LOVING, SLAUGHTER posted by Suzanna Els Edwards on Wednesday, September 10, 1997

LOVING, CHILES, ELDREDGE/ELDRIDGE: The families listed were in Sabine County and Sabine Parish by 1837. I am looking for marriage records for the ELDREDGE girls that married William and John Loving. Peter ELDREDGE, the father, was a Baptist Missionary preacher with ties to George Webb SLAUGHTER in the preaching and cattle business in the 1840's and 1850's in Sabine County. Sarah Eldredge married William LOVING, son of Manuel, either Sabine County or Sabine Parish about 1848-1849. He died about 1860... Civil War?...some stories say he died there in Sabine County or Parish. Something about a horse. John married Elizabeth Jane ELDREDGE about 1859-1860. I understand that the court house burned in 1875, but there are some records that have escaped. The records I seek are about these lines in particular. I would appreciate

BENNETT posted by Burt Stevens on Friday, September 19, 1997

I am researching Wiley Dorsen BENNETT. He was born Dec. 18, 1874 in Sabine County. I don't have his parents names yet but I do know he had 4 brothers: J.C., A.J., Clifton, Luther. I don't know if any of his brothers were born after 1875 when the courthouse burned. Is there anything you might know to help me?

FITZPATRICK, HILL, LANGFORD, LAW posted by Sam Hodges on Sunday, October 12, 1997

I'm helping to edit a collection of the Civil War letters of Marion Hill FITZPATRICK, a Confederate soldier from Crawford County, Ga. His mother, Nancy HILL FITZPATRICK, relocated to Sabine County (near Milam) after FITZPATRICK died in 1865. I believe she lived with one or both of two married daughters there, a Mrs. William (Elizabeth FITZPATRICK) LANGFORD and Mrs. Henry (Sarah FITZPATRICK) LAW. If you have any tips for how I can find out more about any or all of these folks, I would be most grateful. I have an unconfirmed death deate for Nancy Hill FITZPATRICK, but that's about all. I would love to try to track down some living descendant in hopes that he/she would have some of Nancy Hill FITZPATRICK's letters from her son.

HAMILTON, PRATT, WILLIAMS posted by Charlotte Womack Akin on Friday, October 24, 1997

My grandmother, Maude O. PRATT, came to Sabine County as a young lady, married first Wm. Allen HAMILTON and after his death she married James Jackson WILLIAMS. She taught school in several schools in Sabine Co. and retired from the post office at age 70. Jimmy was the son of Samuel WILLIAMS and Mary L. Johnson. Together Jimmy and Maude had a hotel and a grocery store in Brookeland and alternated being the post master there. My mother, Helen C. WILLIAMS, grew up in Brookeland. I have many pictures of hers and wrote down some of her stories as well as her sisters, Lillie Belle. I have been collecting data regarding this family and am willing to share with others. I am wondering if you are related to this WILLIAMS Family?
