HARRIS posted by Bobbie Wells Moffat on Monday, March 3, 1997: Ezekial R. HARRIS b. SC; in Sabine Co. TX by 1836. 1850 census has him still in Sabine Co. By 1860 he is in Palo Pinto Co. TX. He m. a Mary Ann in Sabine Co. In 1867, he signed a Voter's Registration in Palo Pinto Co. as E.R. HARRIS of Stephens Co. By the time this reached Austin his name was marked through as "Dead". The 1870 census for Stephens Co. has Mary Ann listed as head of household with several children. Any help with the parentage of Ezekial (Ezekiah) HARRIS and the maiden name of Mary Ann would very appreciated.

ACKER, KIMBRO, MCADAMS, MCELYEA, PATTON, REED, SIDES, SMITH posted by Vickie Poe on Monday, March 3, 1997: I am looking for information about Joseph SMITH (b. 1835, TX; d. 1862-64?, place unknown). Joseph SMITH married Mary Jane SIDES on 19 April 1855 in Cherokee County, TX. They had three daughters: Frances SMITH m. James Preston McELYEA (25 Jan 1875, Cherokee Co.); Nancy Emeline SMITH m. Thomas Berry PATTON (28 Feb 1878, Cherokee County); and Joanna SMITH m. Bayliss ACKER, Jr. (10 April 1881, Cherokee County). I am also looking for information on another Joseph SMITH who immigrated to Texas abt. 1830, poss. from S.Carolina. This Joseph SMITH was born about 1798. He married Nancy McADAMS (daughter of Rev. John McADAMS)about 1833-1834 in the Sabine District. They had a one year old son named Joseph in 1836. Joseph SMITH served in the TX. Revolutionary War under Capt. Henry REED of the San Augustine Volunteers. In 1841 Joseph SMITH patented one Bounty of land in Houston County, TX. After that there are no more records, but his wife Nancy MCADAMS SMITH remarried Lemuel KIMBRO in 1846 in Walker Co, TX. I think that Joseph SMITH, SR. was the father of Joseph SMITH, JR., but as yet, have been unable to prove it. Any information about these two would be helpful.

WILSON . Zachariah was the son of William HILL who came to Harrison County, Texas via Alabama in the mid-1850s. Following surnames are related: STROUD, ALEXANDER, WILSON, DOWNS, TERRY, JONES, STAUTS, PIPPEN - DOWNS family settled in Panola Cty around Elysian Fields. William R. DOWNS &; Hannah CARMICHAEL are burried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deberry.

My g-father Arthur Lamar CLICK, b. 3/12/1880 Sabine Tx, d. 1959 San Antonio Tx, and his wife, Lucy Alice DUDLEY, b. 1881 East Tx, d. 1957 San Antonio Tx, moved to a farm northeast of Sabinal (date unknow) best guess in early 1900's. Sometime in the late 30's they moved to San Antonio. They had 4 daughters Ruth Neil CLICK COY,Ethel Mae CLICK LEGATE, Pearl A. RIVES, Myra Grace CLICK MCALLISTER and one child that died shortly after birth and is burried in a cemetery on east side of Sabinal on highway 90. Other relatives are William M. Click and Nannie A. (?GRAY) CLICK parents of Arthur Lamar CLICK. I've been told by my mother and Aunts that Nannie A. ?GRAY CLICK died at the farm in Sabinal and my guess is that she is buried in or around Sabinal.
