They are: James b. 1795 Greenville, SC; Joseph Paschal b. 31 jan. 1822 in Monroe Co., MS, Catherine, Elizabeth John, Mary Ann md. William SMITH, Henry N., Spencer, William Jr., Ranson , Walter and Walter. Joseph Paschal Ashmore md. Mary Ann PATTERSON and lived in Sabine County during 1850 census. He left and moved to Louisiana. They say he was a maker of fine carriages. He went to New Orleans where I located him in a hospital as a patient in 1860. He died in 1860 of a heat stroke. Apparently, he died shortly after the census was taken. Mary Ann wouldn't leave her parents to go with him, and later she married Rudolph Graebner in San Augustine co. Any information will be appreciated and I will exchange

FARR, OLIPHANT posted by Scott Oliphint on Friday, October 25, 1996

I have been trying to find out my roots and am making a little progress but need some help. Miranda Oliphant shows up in the Sabine Parish, LA 1870 census with three children, one of whom was my great grandfather. By 1870, however, her husband had died. No one in my family nows his name, but the census shows that Miranda and her three children were born in Texas. My great aunt says that her mother used to say that they were born in Hemphill, in Sabine County. Can you help me find out to whom Miranda OLIPHANT was married in the 1850s or so. It would most likely be the 1850s because in the 1870 census, her first child was ten. His name was Wilford A., my great grandfather, then Mary was 8 and Robert was 6. All, including Miranda (I don't know her maiden name, though one relative tells me she thinks it was FARR), were born in Texas, according to that census. Thank you for whatever you can offer.
