Warm thanks to all of the volunteers, contributors and patrons who made these recognitions possible.  They ould not have happened without you.

The TXGenWeb Project and The USGenWeb Project

The Refugio County site is dedicated to helping family historians find their roots.  It is a part of The TXGenWeb Project which is part of The USGenWeb Project.  This is a free genealogy site, and everything here is a contribution of people who "love" genealogy and "love" Refugio County.  They are dedicated volunteers and often proud descendants of Refugio County pioneers.  Expect to find an error here or there - they exist in spite of how diligently we work to avoid them.   Let us know, and we will make necessary corrections.  We thank you for your input.

When using the above search engine for this site, please remember that names have been transcribed as written in original records and that the spelling might differ from the spelling used today.  If you do not find your surname with the search engine, the name could still be on the site.  Using the search engine is a "quick find" but does not replace old-fashioned "looking" through the available pages.

It is probably best to put in just one surname (one spelling) and do the search.

The TXGenWeb Mike Basham Memorial - County of the Month Award

This site shows past recipients of this award.

If the information on a Texas county site has been helpful to you and makes you want to "go back" and look again, please  take time to nominate that county for the "County of the Month Award".  You will need to copy and paste the appropriate URL.   Everyone feels good when they know they are "making a difference", and a vote from you lets county coordinators know they are headed in the right direction.  Thanks.

Welcome you to the Refugio County TXGenWeb Project.  Thank you for taking the time to visit and it is hoped that the material on this website will be  useful for your genealogical research.

Our website has grown a lot since February 14, 2002, thanks to so many of you who have contributed material and photographs.  I am always looking for more so please keep sending things.  I would especially like information on families, schools and churches in any of the communities of the county.

Although I do not live in Refugio County and am not able to commit to doing research for you, I might have ideas or materials that would assist you.  I welcome your e-mails.

If you have any questions, suggestions or materials to contribute, please email me.
