Very few tribes of Indians lived in Rains County. In fact, there were only two that we know of-- the Caddo and the Tawakoni. It is not specifically known where in Rains County the Caddos resided, only that they once lived in or near the county. The Tawakonis, however, lived in the area that is now Lake Tawakoni.
