    Jim's father was trained as a spy for the Northern Army during the Civil War; later        he joined the Southern Army as a spy for the the Northern Army.  After the war, the     Southern Army discovered his purpose & sought to kill him.  Jack Harrington came to     TX & settled in the Blue Ridge & Altoga areas to get away from those that pursued     him.  He married & had a son John Harrington, who had a son Emmett.  After his 1st     wife's death, Jack Harrington married the widow Kaiser who died in childbirth with        Jim.  Jack Harrington gave the baby to a Mrs. Williams in the Altoga community to     raise and Jim was raised as Jim Williams.  When Jim was 10 years old, Jack     Harrington was still a hunted man; two ment came to Blue Ridge & ambushed him at
    a branch crossing, 1 mile west of Blue Ridge.  He was buried at Frog Knot Cemetery,     Blue Ridge; the branch where Harrington died was named Harrington Branch, which     runs into Lake Lavon.  When Jim Williams decided to marry, he wanted to use his real     name; since he didn't know how to spell his name, "Arrington" was written on the     marriage license, so he & all his children were known as Arringtons.
