
Rev. Armistead David Greer

Birth: Nov 1878- Holly Springs (Marshall County), Marshall County, Mississippi,
Death: Nov., 1968, Point, Rains County, Texas, USA
Reverend Greer was born to Green and Violet Greer. He attended public schools
there and in his youth accepted Christ and joined the Baptist Church.
He lived in Holly Springs until he was 13 years old, (abt 1890) and then moved
to Fannin County, Texas, later to Hunt County, Texas. Later he enrolled in Hearne
Academy, Hearne, Texas. Upon graduation he taught school and farmed, and in
later years entered the ministry.
In 1902 he moved to Richland Community, Point , Rains County, Texas where he
met and married Miss Cordie Leggett, and to this union eleven children were
born. His wife and one son preceded him in death.
Rev. Greer was a member of the Richland Baptist Church for over sixty years.
He served as the Assistant Pastor. He also served as Trustee of the Richland
High School for many years. He served on the Committee for the Community Action
Program in Rains County.
The testimony of all who knew Rev. Greer was -- "He lived his religion.
He was a dedicated worker." It is because of his life and love for his
Saviour and fellowman that his love ones have the confidence that he sleeps
in Christ.
Those left to cherish the memory of him include: seven devoted and loving sons
and three daughters: Theo, Rev. Emmitt A., Archie - Dallas,
John S. and Ulysses, Los Angeles, California,
Lewis, Oakland, California,
Kermit, Tyler, Texas;
Miss Eldora Hoskins and Myrtle V. King, Dallas,
Mrs. Millie Jones, Oakland, California; twenty-one grandchildren; and other
relatives and friends.
