Mike's Family,
I only knew Mike for such a short time, but my memories of Mike will
always last in my mind. I will never forget his opening line to me each
time in chat "Howdy Marie!, Marie who lives in CA and wishes she was
living in Texas", as well as the lunch where he was teased for being
the rooster with the flock of hens. But most of all, I will remember how
Mike's face lit with pride and joy when he talked about his family,
especially his son. Mike was a true son of Texas and liked by all. He
will be missed.

Message:My husband and
I sat and ate dinner at the same table with you and Mike at the Old City
Park the last day of the FGS conference. We were shocked and saddened to
hear about Mike. Words are inadequate especially since we don't know you
very well, but we do want you to know that Mike has made a difference in
our lives with his talents. I shall ever be grateful to him for his
efforts in helping us to use the computer for our genealogy work. We
believe that a loving Heavenly Father placed us here on earth in families
where we could learn about Him and His Son's love for us. We also
believe that families can be together forever according to His plan for
us. We hope and pray that our Father in Heaven will wrap his loving arms
around your family and keep you comforted when you need it. Sincerely,
Katie and Reid Madsen

Message:It has been
just over one year since Mike died. He was my cousin, and friend. I
will always be grateful to him for his help and sponsorship of the
Hightower family genealogical database at
http://www.chrysalis.org/malcolm/hightowr He encouraged me and helped me
via email, and during our frequent telephone conversations. I am also
grateful to Mike's brother, Dwaine, for maintaining Mike's internet home
page in his memory.
Mike told me that he used the Hightower Family Genealogical Database as
an example during some of his genealogical presentations. He was a kind,
compassionate, and helpful person. I will always remember his kindness
to others, and hold his memory in high esteem.

Message:My belated
condolences for your loss. Mike's research of the Basham family was
great. My great aunt, Emaline Rhodes, was married to James H. Basham of
Basham's Gap, AL when he was shot by vigalantes in 1865 and I am now
working on learning the true story of this incident.
