History Records Early Teachers in Parker Schools

Among the pioneer teachers in this county were
S.W.T. Lanham, later Governor of Texas,
H.S. Moran, later State Representative,
Prof. W.O. Christian,
Morgan H. Looney,
T.C. Hart,
W.D. Hatt,
Sam H. Milliken,
James Blackwell and
O.W. Keeler.

In 1870 the scholastic population of Parker County was 1,469 pupils between the ages of 8 and 14. The age limit at that time. In 1906 the city and county school enrollment was 5,891. (From "A New History of Parker County" by John S. Grace and R.B. Jones.)
