Joseph William "Joe Bill" Oney, 58, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be at noon Saturday in Boys Ranch Cemetery in Boys Ranch.
Joe Bill was born May 16, 1950, in Dalhart. He spent his younger years at Boys Ranch. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served his country proudly earning the Vietnam Campaign Medal, two overseas bars, expert M-16, Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian "Billie" Smith.
Survivors include his father, Jimmie T. Smith; his wife, Joyce Oney; three children, Jana, Chris and Lisa; six stepchildren, Stephen, Brenda, Karla, Robin, Ramona and Rick; three brothers, Stephen Gayle, Mark Oney and Todd Smith; a sister, Debbie Smith; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
