JOHNNY BARAJAS, 52, of
Dallas, died Monday, May 29, 1995, at Methodist Hospital in Dallas.
Services were at 1 pm Wednesday, at Alexander Chapel in Naples, with
Father Jerry Haby officiating. Burial was in the Naples Cemetery. Mr.
Barajas was a former sheet metal worker, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes
Catholic Church, and a former resident of Bowie County. Survivors
include his wife, Josephine Barajas of Dallas; two sons, Johnny Barajas,
Jr. and Edward Barajas, both of Dallas; two daughters, Debbie Barajas
and Dora Lynn Barajas, both of Allen, Texas; six brothers, Tirso Barajas
of Cleburne, Pete Barajas of Kileen, Willie Barajas of Cedar Hill,
Texas, Henry Barajas of Shreveport, and Andres Barajas of Ennis; four
sisters, Rita Rico of Chattanooga, TN, and Carlotta Barajas, Juanita

died Sunday, December 31, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview,
following a brief illness. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. ,
Tuesday, January 2, at the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield with the
Rev. John Stone and the Rev. Norman Crisp officiating. Burial was in
the Concord Cemetery at Omaha. Mrs. Betts was a nurse and a member of
the First Baptist Church. She was a former resident of Naples.
Survivors include her husband, John Betts of Daingerfield; one son Bobby
Polson of Goodyear, Ariz; one daughter Brenda Bowman of Nacogdoches, TX;
two grandchildren, John Polson of Nacogdoches and Leigh Browman of
College Station, TX; a number of nieces and nephews. |

MARION BETTS,
82, of Omaha, died Monday, November 13, 1995, at Mother Frances
Hospital in Tyler, following and extended illness. Funeral services
were at 2 pm, Wednesday, November 15, at the First Baptist Church in
Omaha, with the Rev. Neal Thornburg and the Rev. Clifford Longino
officiating. Burial was in the Omaha Cemetery under the direction
of Bates-Cooper-Weems-Robison Funeral Home. Mr. Betts was born
Friday, March 31, 1913, at Cornett, Texas, and was preceded in death
by his parents, Minnie and John Betts. He was a member of the
Jefferson First Methodist Church and the David Elliott Masonic
Lodge. He had managed the Sinclair Wholesale Agency and was an
elementary school principal for 26 years and had retired from that
position. Survivors include his wife, Gradye Faye Coley Betts of
Omaha, a twin brother, W. Mildred Betts of Cornett; a sister-in-law,
Annie Lee Betts of Cornett; a nephew, Dr. Gordon Betts of Sulphur
Springs; two great nephews; and numerous cousins and other
relatives. Marion served his country in the US Army during WWII. (E

June 13, 1995, at Titus County Memorial Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Services were at 2 pm Saturday, June 17, at the Faith Temple Church
of God in Christ in Daingerfield, with Elder Alfred Key Sr.
officiating. Burial was in the Whitmore Cemetery at Daingerfield.
Mrs. Buford was born December 18, 1936, in Morris County. She was
retired from Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas as a dietitian.
She was a member of the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Buford of Daingerfield; one
son, Ray Charles Moore of Daingerfield; one step-daughter, Raeland
Dean Buford of Dallas; four brothers, Lawrence Lee of Greenville,
Bobbie Lee of Dallas, and Kenneth Lee and Terry Lee, both of
Daingerfield; seven sisters, Dorothy Lee, Lola Hayes, Marilyn

Mrs. Byrd was born January 2, 1915. She was a homemaker and a
member of the White Oak Chapel Christian Church in Omaha. Survivors
include two stepsons, Vernon Byrd of Brownfield, TX, and Ernest Byrd
of Tyler; two stepdaughters, Ermaline Wilkerson of Naples, and
Codella Porter of Oakland, CA; 12 grandchildren; 23 great

MELVIN FRANK CHISM, 41, of Lone Star, died
Monday, August 7, following a lengthy illness. Services were at 11
am, Saturday, August 12, at the Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ in
Omaha, with Bro. Luckey Randall officiating. Burial was in the
Reynolds Cemetery in Daingerfield. Mr. Chism graduated from
Daingerfield High School, attended Kilgore Junior College and NTCC,
where he received an associate degree in applied science. He was
employed at Anderson-Hickey for seven years, and was a member of the
Mt. Mitchell Church in Omaha. He was preceded in death by a
brother, John Rodgers. Survivors include one son, Christopher Chism
of Henderson; one daughter, Marquita Latrell Chism of Henderson; his
parents, Henry and Hattie Younger of Daingerfield; seven brothers,
Willie Rodgers, Jimmy Chism Sr., and William Chism, all of Lone
Star, Ronald Smith Sr. and Dedrick Younger, both of Dallas, Henry
Earl Younger of Elcon, CA, and Earnest Younger of Daingerfield; five

Thursday, August 24 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples

Cemetery at Omaha. Mr. Davis was born July 5, 1906, at Omaha. He
was a retired Exxon dealer, a veteran of World War II, a Mason for
over 50 years, and a member of the Baptist Church. He was a former
resident of Chapel Hill, N. C. but had made his home at Omaha for
the past 13 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Mickie
Moore Davis. Survivors include one sister, Lura Walker of Omaha;
two sisters-in-law, Lorene Davis and Maxine Davis, both of Omaha;
two nieces Kay Hawkins of Huntsville, and Sarah Jane Moreland of
Omaha; a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Davis, a former resident of Omaha, was born June 28, 1911 at Atoka,

City, Elouise Copeland of Palestine, and Loretta Tyler of Thailand;

HERSCHEL B. ELLIS,
78, of Vancouver, Washington, died Sunday, July 9, 1995 at him home
of congestive heart failure. Services were at 12:30 pm Thursday,
July 13, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, followed by private
burial at Williamette national Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Mr.
Ellis was born November 27, 1916, in Omaha, Texas, and had lived in
the Vancouver area for the last 17 years. He served in the Army Air
Corps during World War II and was a POW in Germany for two years.
He was a member of the Royal Oaks Country Club, Clark-Skamania Fly
Fishers and Boys at Bridge. He enjoyed playing bridge, fly fishing
and golfing. He began his career with the Department of Agriculture
in San Francisco and transferred to Portland in 1953 as grain
inspector. He moved to Louisiana in 1961 as a southern area
supervisor and returned to Portland in 1964 as western area
supervisor. From 1970 to 1974, still working for the U S
government, he was loaned to the Liberian government to establish a
rice marketing program. He retired in 1974. Survivors include his
wife of 47 years, Dorothy "Bugs" Ellis; one son, Cleve Ellis of
Vancouver; one brother, Gerald Ellis of Houston; and two
grandchildren. |

Buddie Falls, 77, of Ft. Worth , died Friday,
June 9, at his home. Graveside services were at 2 pm Monday, June
12, at Clark Cemetery in Jenkins, near Daingerfield. Mr. Falls was
born in Bogata and moved to Ft. Worth in 1947. He was an
international vice president of the Boilsermaker�s Union in an
eight-state area and member of former Ft. Worth Boilermaker Local
96. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mildred Falls of Ft.
Worth; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Ramona Falls of
Houston; three brothers, Eugene Falls of Naples, Russell Falls of
Conway, AR., and Bill Falls of Daingerfield; two grandchildren,

was born May 27, 1929, in Bowie County. He was retired from Vinyard
Enterprises, was a member of the Belden Masonic Lodge of Naples, and
was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Survivors
include his wife, Edith Goodwin of Naples; three daughters and
sons-in-law, Sheri and John Monclova of San Antonio, Theresa and

at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples, with the Rev. Trey
Roberson and the Rev. Tommy Weems officiating. Burial was in the
Omaha Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Service of
Naples. Mrs. Holder was preceded in death by her husband. They
were retired from the cattle business in Bogata, Texas, where they
were former residents. She was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Naples, and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Garden Club. Survivors

67, of Lawton, OK, died November 6, 1995, at a Lawton hospital, and
funeral services were conducted under the direction of Huddleston
Funeral Home of Lawon. Mr. Sosbee was born November 18, 1920, in
Daingerfield to Rienzi Sosbee and Lura Martha Hammonds Mills. He grew
up in the Mt. Moriah community and attended school at Omaha. He was a
US Army veteran of WWII, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was also a
US Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean conflict and being promoted
to staff sergeant. He had worked as a professional photographer at
Meisel Studios in Dallas for many years and developed and processed the
first moon shot films from the Apollo spacecraft landing, which included
the first footprint found on the moon. He was a life member of the
Disabled American Veterans. After his retirement, he moved his family
and settled in the Hubbard Chapel community in Bowie County where
children of the family completed school at DeKalb. Mr. Sosbee was
preceded in death by his parents, Reinzi Sosbee of Dallas, and Lura
Brannon of Omaha; and his brother, James Curry Mills of Omaha.
Survivors include one daughter, Denese Sosbee, formerly of DeKalb; five
sons, Duane Sosbee of Huntsville, Don Sosbee of Poway, CA, Dean Sosbee
of Seagoville, Dale Sosbee of Harker Heights, and Davis Sosbee of Tampa,

H. C. Tindall, 85, of
Omaha, died Thursday, November 23, at the Elmwood Nursing Home in
Omaha. Funeral services were at 2 pm, Sunday, November 26, at the
Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples, with the Rev. Neal Thornburgh
officiating. Burial was in the Omaha Cemetery. Mr. Tindall was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, and a member of
the OSO Naval Lodge #1282, the David Elliott Masonic Lodge of Omaha, the
York Rite Commandery #57, and a member of the Al Amin Shrine. He was a
retired engineer and a past president of the Texas Hospital Engineers�
Association. He was chief engineer at Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi
from 1953 to 1980, and he was a trustee of the Texas State Technical
Institute at Waco. Survivors include his wife, Daisy Lee Davis Tindall
of Omaha; two sons, Richard A. Tindall of Friendswood, and Harry L.
Tindall of Houston; and four grandchildren, Richard Keith Tindall of
Austin, Geneva Gail Chojnacki of College Station, Jennifer L. Tindall of

Trumble, 81, of Daingerfield, died Saturday, December 30, at Windsor
Place Nursing Home in Daingerfield. Funeral services were at 2 pm,
Monday, January 1, at the Rocky Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob
Odom and Dr. Neal Clark officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill
Cemetery near Naples. Mrs. Trumble was born December 3, 1914, in Morris
County, was a member of the Rocky Branch Baptist Church and was a former
resident of Naples. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vesta
Trumble, a son, Vesta David Trumble, and a daughter, Nancy Trumble
Boozer. Survivors include one son, Jerry Trumble of Texarkana; one
daughter Ramona Collins of Daingerfield; a brother, Morris Brunette of
Odessa; two sisters, Allie Joyner of Daingerfield, and Jewel Golden of
Odessa; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three

TURNER, 43, of Grapevine, TX., died Sunday, October 22, 1995 as
the result of an automobile accident. Memorial services are pending
with Alexander Funeral Home of Naples. Mrs. Turner was born December
18, 1951 in Naples, and was a member of the 1970 graduating class of
Pewitt High School. She was employed with GTE in Irving, and was
preceded in death by her mother, Ann Vissering, and a brother, Jack
Vissering. Survivors include four stepchildren, Vicki, Valerie, Michael
and Steven Turner; her father and stepmother, Wes and Ruth Vissering of
Naples; a sister, Rebecca Burke of Mt. Pleasant; and a number of nieces

Joseph W. West rook, 88, of Omaha, were at 2 pm, Friday, September 1,
1995, at the First United Methodist Church in Omaha, with the Rev. Janet
Blackburn and the Rev. Suzanne Orman officiating. Burial was in the
Omaha Cemetery. Mr. Westbrook died Tuesday, August 29, 1995, at
Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville, Texas. He was born in Omaha,
Texas, May 27, 1907, and was the son of John W. and Eula Stevens
Westbrook. He married Claudia Ardell Henry in Galveston on June 21,
1941. Mr. Westbrook was chief engineer at the Veterans Administration
Hospital at Temple, and was a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel,
serving during World War II. He was a Mason and member of the First
United Methodist Church of Omaha. Survivors include his wife, Claudia; a
daughter, Carolyn Moore and husband, George Moore; three grandsons,
Bradley Moore and wife Jamie, and Wesley Moore, all of Wolfe City, and
Stanley Moore and wife Susan of Leesburg; and one brother, Home
Westbrook and wife Frances of Lometa, Texas. Serving as pallbearers
were Bradley Moore, Stanley Moore, Wesley Moore, Kenneth Schroeder,
Joseph Schroeder and Ray Thigpen. Honorary pallbearers were Bill
Atkinson, John Kirk, Thomas Thigpen, Sarge Glover and Neil Ferrell. (I

Q. B. WOMMACK, 70, of
Naples, died Thursday, June 1, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 3, 1995, at the Alexander Funeral
Home Chapel in Naples, with the Rev. James Day and the Rev. Bill Harty
officiating. Burial was in the Naples Cemetery (A Row 7). Mr. Wommack
was born April 17, 1925, in Marietta. He owned and operated Wommack Oil
Company at Naples, with his son, Steve. He was a graduate of Naples
High School and Texas A&M University. He served in the Army Air Force
during World War II as an aviator, was a member of the Marietta Masonic
Lodge, and was a member of the Oakridge Baptist Church at Marietta. Mr.
Wommack was a member of the Naples City Council for the past 25 years
and had served as mayor pro-tem during a number of those years. He was
a lifetime resident of the Naples and Marietta area. Survivors include
his wife, Bonnie Nance Wommack of Naples; one son and daughter-in-law,
Steve and Beth Wommack of Naples; one grand-daughter Kaitlyn Wommack of
Naples, two sisters, Mary Rogers and Punch Leeves, both of Naples; a
brother, James Wommack of Douglassville; and a number of nieces and
nephews. Serving as pallbearers were his nephews, Buddy Rogers, David
Franklin Leeves, Jim Wommack, Bob Wommack, Sim Burgess and Will
Burgess. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Berry, Doug Loffer, Willie James
Palmore, John Miles and John Taylor, present and former City of Naples
