Anthony E. (John) Carpenter, 52, of Omaha, died Tuesday, January 18, 1994. Services
were at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 20, at Concord Baptist Church near
Omaha with the Rev. Glenn Griffith and the Rev. Nolan Richey
officiating. Burial as in the Concord Cemetery. Mr. Carpenter was born
January 20, 1941 in Omaha. He attended Concord Baptist Church and was a
lifetime resident of Omaha. Survivors include two sisters and
brothers-in-law, Maxine and Cecil Keene of Omaha and Pauline and Hugh
Barfield of New Boston; four brothers and sisters-in-law James M. and
Mary Carpenter of Naples, V. C. and Tribah Carpenter of Cookville,
Charles I. and Violet Carpenter of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Floyd K.
and Carol Carpenter of Omaha; eight nieces; 16 nephews and a number of
cousins, friends and neighbors. Pallbearers were Dane Carpenter, Floyd
Carpenter, Terris Keene, Ronnie Hicks, Kelvin Carpenter and Paul

Cabaniss Talley; Mrs. Clyde Clayton 88, of Omaha, died Tuesday, January
11 1994. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13 at the
Concord Baptist Church near Omaha with the Rev. Glenn Griffith and the
Rev. Nolan Richey officiating. Burial was in the Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. Clayton was born February 4, 2905 in Omaha. She was a Baptist
and a lifetime resident of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her
husband Joe T. Clayton; b. 9 October 1896, d. 18 March 1961 and a
grandchild Nathan Allen Jackson. Survivors include a daughter and
son-in-law Louise and Orville Surratt of Daingerfield; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Frank & Reita Clayton of Omaha, J. T. and Erma Clayton
of Omaha, and Jeff and Sue Clayton of Omaha; three sisters, Bobbie Lee
Vickers of Omaha, Monte Simpson of Naples and Ann Gilstrap of Omaha;
nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were
J. L. Waits, Gary Simpson, Arthur Guy Wommack, Steve Russell, Smoky
Williams and V. C. Carpenter. |

Ella Mae Coffey, 77, of Omaha, died Sunday, Jan.
23, at Titus County Memorial Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Services were at
11 am Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Omaha First Baptist Church, with the
Rev. Kerry Duffey officiating. Burial was in the Bellheaven Cemetery at
Omaha. Mrs. Coffey was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Douglassville. She was a
homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Curtis Coffey of Omaha; six
children, Doyle Leonard, Maggie Sierra, Stella Evans and Maytis Black,
all of Dallas, and Barbara Coffey and Marilynn Greenwood, both of Omaha;
two step-daughters; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and other

Cook, 74, of Omaha died Thursday, July 21 in Lubbock. Services were at
2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Nolan Richey and the Rev. Glenn Griffith officiating. Burial was in the
Concord Cemetery near Omaha. Mrs. Cook was born June 14, 1920 in
Jenkins, TX. She was a longtime resident of Omaha and was preceded in
death by her husband Cayce. Survivors include two daughters Jean
Stouffer of Garland and Sherry Cook Parisi of Lubbock; one son W. D.
Miller of Daingerfield; her mother Ruth Summers of Greenville; two
brothers Maurice Lilley and Bill Lilley of Daingerfield and three
grandsons. ( Willie Mae married Cayce Berns Cook on May 28, 1958. He

of Omaha, died Wednesday, February 2, 1994. Services were at 2 pm
Friday, Feb. 4, at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples, with the
Rev. Janet Blackburn and the Rev. Nolan Richey officiating. Burial was
in the Omaha Cemetery. Mr. Davis was born July 18, 1911, in Omaha. He
was a rancher, former commissioner, a member of the First United
Methodist Church, and a lifetime resident of Omaha. He was preceded in
death by a son, William Guy Davis, Jr. He grew up in the Concord
community, where he served on the Concord Cemetery committee. Survivors
include his wife, Lorene Hall Davis of Omaha; one daughter and
son-in-law, Sarah and Coy Moreland of Omaha; one grandson, Jerry
Moreland of Hurst; one granddaughter, Belinda Hebbler of Plano; four
great grandchildren, Ashley Moreland and Jennifer Moreland, both of
Hurst, and Charles Hebbler and Caroline Hebbler, both of Plano; one
brother, Obie Davis of Omaha; and one sister, Lura Walker of Omaha. (G

(Robby) Laney, 32, of Ft. Worth, TX, formerly of Cookville, died
Thursday, December 1 at his home. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, December 3, at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples,
with the Rev. Glenn Griffith officiating. Burial was in the Concord
Cemetery at Omaha. Mr. Laney was born July 16, 1962 in Mt. Pleasant,
TX. He was an accountant for Medical Air Supply and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his parents, Virginia and Robert Laney of Cookville,
one sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Larry Sparks of Ft. Worth; and

Johnny Bob Lewis, 55, of
Shiner, TX, died Friday, Feb. 4, at Victoria, TX following a brief
illness. Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 5, at 2 pm at the
Buffington Funeral Home Chapel in Shiner, with the Rev. George Lumpkin
and the Rev. Jerry Capeoni officiating; and on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 2 pm
at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples, with the Rev. Bill Harty
and the Rev. Bob Sinclair officiating. Burial was in the Naples
Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Service of Naples.
Mr. Lewis, born in Naples, was a 1956 honor graduate of Pewitt High
School where he was valedictorian, and a 1960 graduate of the University
of North Texas at Denton. He had taught school at Palestine, AR,
Yorktown, TX and at Canyon Junior High in New Braunfels. He was serving
as principal of Shiner Elementary School. He was a member of the Texas
Elementary Principals and Supervisors Assoc., and the Texas State
Teachers Association. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lewis of Shiner;
his mother, Mrs. Olivia Thomas Lewis of Naples, two daughters, Lana
Lewis Taylor and Connie Lewis, both of Austin; one sister, Shirley
Woodard of DeKalb; and three brothers, Ray Lewis of Naples, Bill Lewis
of Dallas and Ronald Lewis of Houston. He was preceded in death by his
father Claud C. Lewis. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Lucke, John
Najvar, Lance Taylor, Alex R. Fammill, Noel Tuck and Harry James
Vissering. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Patek Sr., Ed Pepper, Don
Stark, Henry Fietsam, Harry George Vissering and Shiner Elementary
School staff and students.

Demmie L. ( Parker) Morris, 87, of
Omaha, died Tuesday, May 24, 1994 at Elmwood Nursing Home in Omaha.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 at Concord Baptist Church
near Omaha with the Rev. Nolan Richey officiating. Burial was in
the Concord Cemetery. Born in Habersham County Georgia,
Mrs. Morris was the daughter of Jonah and Lela (Collins) Parker and a
member of the Concord Baptist Church, a member of the Omaha Chapter of
the Order of the Eastern Star, and a lifetime resident of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luther Morris (b. 9 April 1902,
d. 11 April 1984, and a son Jack who died in March of this year.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Nancy (Hampton)
Morris of Omaha; one daughter-in-law Betty Ann (Johnson) Morris of
Omaha, one brother and sister-in-law Emery and Johnnie Mae (Smith)
Parker, two sisters Bessie (Parker) Callaway, and Effie (Parker)
Wallace, both of Omaha; five grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren; preceded in death were brothers Gus Parker, Oscar
Parker, sister Mary Alene Parker Boozer. |

Jack
Morris, 69, of Omaha, died Sunday, March 6, at Titus County Memorial
Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, after a lengthy illness. Services were at 10
am Tuesday, March 8, at Concord Baptist Church, with the Rev. Nolan
Richey officiating. Burial was in the Omaha Cemetery. Mr. Morris was
born Aug. 4, 1924, in Morris County. He was a World War II Navy
veteran, a member of the David Elliott Masonic Lodge and member of
Concord Baptist Church. He retired after 27 years as a lieutenant with
the El Paso Police Department. He was preceded in death by his father,
Luther Morris. Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Morris of Omaha;
one son and daughter-in-law, Jackie Ray and Pam Morris of Omaha; one
daughter, DeAnn Frost of Omaha; his mother, Demmie Morris of Omaha; one
brother, Jerry Morris of Omaha; three grandsons, Jason Ray Morris, Joe
Ray Morris and Jeffery Frost, all of Omaha; one niece; two nephews, and

Bill Richey, 79, of Omaha, died
Saturday, June 25 in Omaha. Services were at 3:00 p.m. Sunday,
June 26 at Concord Baptist Church, with the Rev. Glenn Griffith and the
Rev. Rodney Richey officiating. Burial was in the Concord
Cemetery. Mr. Richey was born October 16, 1914, in Omaha. He
was a member of the Concord Baptist Church and David Elliott Masonic
Lodge #364. He was a farmer, a retired millwright at Lone Star
Steel Company and a lifetime resident of Omaha. Survivors include
his wife Josephine Boozer Richey of Omaha; five sons, Larry Richey of
Hurst, Rodney Richey of Quitman, Donald Richey of Daingerfield, Tommy
Richey of New Boston and Nolan Richey of Omaha; two daughters Janice
Richey of New Boston and Sue Gattis of Omaha; 18 grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; one sister Floriene Hampton of Omaha; and a number
of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Glynn Gray, Ray Richey,
Shalin Richey, Lance Richey, Shane Richey, Maxie Laney and Nathan West. |

Margaret Jean Stevens-Kofskey, 48, of Clearwater, Florida, died Friday,
March 4, 1994 in Clearwater, as the result of a shooting incident during
a bank robbery. She was born August 7, 1945, at Ragland Hospital in
Gilmer, and was a native of Omaha. Funeral services will be at 10:30
am, Thursday, March 10, at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples,
with the Rev. Janet Blackburn officiating. Interment will be at the
Omaha Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Naples.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brown, Morris Craig, Clay Harrison, Rex Ranes,
Emmett Riner and Russell Stevens. Survivors include her husband, James
F. Kofskey of Clearwater, Florida; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C.
Stevens of Omaha; her sister, Amelia Stevens MD, of Northampton, Mass,
and a number of other relatives and friends. Dr. Stevens-Kofskey was an
accomplished musician and held a doctorate in music from Boston
University. She was a branch manager and vice president for AmSouth
Bank in Clearwater, Florida. She was an honor graduate of Pewitt High
School and the University of Texas. Memorial services were conducted in

JERRY ALLEN THIGPEN, 48,
of Naples, died Wednesday, September 7, at his home of natural causes.
Funeral services were at 2 pm, Friday, September 9, 1994, at the
Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples, with the Rev. James Hinkle and
the Rev. Janet Blackburn officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill
Cemetery. Mr. Thigpen was a native of the Omaha and Naples area and
attended Paul H. Pewitt Schools. He was an employee of Lone Star Steel
Company and a veteran of Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Brenda
Thigpen of Omaha; a daughter, Lisa Thigpen of Omaha; his mother, Thelma
Thigpen of Naples; a sister, Barbara Meadows of Omaha; and two brothers,
Kenneth Wayne Thigpen of Hughes Springs, and Michael Gene Thigpen of
Naples. Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Meadows, Jimmy Shirey, J. Roy
