CALDWELL, Rev. John Sidney (J. S.)                                                          February 19, 1868 � Nov 15, 1936

 Rev. J. S. Caldwell, 68, Retired Baptist Minister, Passes Away November 1936

Rev. J. S. Caldwell, retired Baptist minister, who was loved by a host of friends, passed away Sunday afternoon at his home in Omaha.

He was born near Hughes Springs in Cass County 68 years ago, being ordained to preach at Marietta in 1908.  He lived in Cass County all of his life except the last 13 years since he came to Omaha.

Married in 1890 to Miss Fannie Lee, he leaves her, with three sons and two daughters: W. S. Caldwell of Crane, J. H. Caldwell of Mt. Pleasant, S. F. Caldwell of Longview, Mrs. Archie Baughman of Cross Roads community, Cass County, and Mrs. C. C. Wellborn of Omaha.  All of the children were at the funeral except W. S. Caldwell who visited his father very recently.  Twenty grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive.

Funeral services were held at the Omaha Baptist Church Monday, interment being made in the Omaha Cemetery.

Rev. A. J. Finley of Omaha had Charge of services.  He was assisted by Rev. W. E. Pinkham of DeKalb, Rev. T. A. John of Pittsburg, Rev. J. D. McClung of Mt. Pleasant.  Pallbearers were D. L Robinson, T. A. Thigpen, Dan Walker, H. G. Wallace, Douglass Irby and R. L. Smith, all of Omaha.

Among funeral attendants were Mr. & Mrs. L. L. Lee and daugher, Miss Ethel, of Mt. Pleasant; Horace Lee, F. C. Lee and Walter Lee, Rev. & Mrs. Pink Lee, Will, Jim and Horace Hardy of Marietta; Mr. & Mrs. R. H. Gibson and daughters, Mrs. Audrey Reeder and Mrs. Era Viard, J. H. Mason and son, Claud, of Hughes Springs.

Talley, Robert Lee "Bob"

TALLEY, ROBERT LEE (BOB)                                                                   July 23, 1866 � January 1, 1936 

R L Talley Passes Away Wednesday Night

Funeral services were held at 10o'clock Friday morning for R L Talley.  "Uncle Bob" as he was familiarly known, who passed at the family home in the Concord community about 9 o'clock Wednesday night.  The services were held at the Concord church under the direction of Rev. J. D. McClung of Mt. Pleasant, assisted by Rev. A. J. Findley of Omaha.  The body was laid to rest in the Concord cemetery.  Mr. Talley was 69 years of age at the time of his death, which was caused by a heart attack with which he was stricken at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon while walking in the yard.  Deceased was born in Jackson County, Alabama, moving to Texas soon after his marriage to Miss Florence Cabaniss almost fifty years ago and had resided in the Concord community near Omaha continuously since.  Thirteen children were born to this union, three of them having preceded their father in death.  Surviving with their mother to mourn his going away are one son and nine daughters as follows: Jeff Talley, Mrs. Dan Clayton, Mrs. Joe Clayton, Mrs. B. C. Vickers, Mrs. C. W. Gilstrap, and Mrs. Maurice Simpson all of Omaha; Mrs. Joe Garrett, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Gilbert Gibson, Naples; Mrs. L. R. Kimmel and Mrs. J. W. Russell, El Paso; one brother, D. J. Talley, of Omaha; one sister, Mrs. Jim Welborn of Section, Ala; twenty grandchildren and many other relatives.  Pall bearers were: B. J. Cason, J. L. Walker, T. A. Thigpen, H. G. Wright, H. C. McCollum and A. P. Morris.  (SW Row 10)

Vaught, Emma Gilbreath

VAUGHT, EMMA GILBREATH                                                               February 5, 1871 � March 13, 1936

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Vaught, 65 years of age, who died at her home near Omaha Friday morning, following an illness of about two weeks with pneumonia, were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church in Omaha, with her pastor, Rev. K. K. Rushing, conducting the services, assisted by Rev. L. T. Andrews pastor of the Methodist church at Pittsburg and Rev. A. J. Finley, pastor of the Concord Baptist church.  Burial was made in the Concord cemetery.  Mrs. Vaught was born in Alabama, she was married to J. W. Vaught in 1897, to this union eight children were born.  She has lived in Texas since 1900.  Deceased was a devout Christian and had been a member of the Methodist church since a small child.  Her husband and two children preceded her in death several years ago.  Surviving to mourn her passing away is one son, Cecil of Omaha; five daughters, Mrs. John Beasley, Pittsburg; Mrs. Matt Palmore, Naples; Mrs. Thurman McFearin and Mrs. Robert Furr, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Henry Rutland, Omaha; four step children, three grand children; one sister, one brother and many other relatives.  Those attending the funeral from out of town were: J. E. Wallace, C. C. Arnold, P. H. Swaim, Mesdames Princeton Bevil, E. L. Patterson, M. L. Abernathy, B. D. McWaters, W. A. Kennedy, J. M. Clark, Marvin Clark, V. B. Couch and Knox Bass, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Pool and Miss Mary Harris all of Pittsburg; Mrs. Frank Beaty, Marshall; Mr. & Mrs. G. T. Rutland, Mesdames Burkes Redfearn, Willie Williams and Miss Minnie Rutland, Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips and son Bobbie, Cookville; Kelly Vaught, Langston, Ala; Mellie Wright, Mesdames Emmett Fleming, J. A. Wommack and Archie Heard, Naples.  (Row 16 NE)
