Wm. E. Beasley was
among the last of the original settlers of near Omaha was born in
Alabama May 29, 1853 and came to Texas with his parents when a small
boy: lived in Bowie county a few years and came on over and settled in
this county; married Miss Georgia Smith in 1875 and brought up a family
of five sons who survive him.

Beasley of Omaha, O. C. and N. O. Beasley of Shreveport, La, and R. R.
Beasley of El Paso, all of whom with their families were with him in the
last days and hours of suffering.
"Uncle Bill" as we
all like to call him, was stricken with paralysis Thursday morning of
last week, but rallied and seemed to improve until Monday when he took
pneumonia, resulting in his death at 9:30 o'clock Monday Night, June 16,
at the home of his son, W. Z. Beasley where he had made his home ever
since losing his companion a few years since.
Funeral services
were conducted in the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by
Elder J. S. Caldwell, Rev. W. J. Brient and Rev. A. B. Moses, after
which his remains were laid to rest in the Omaha cemetery with a fine
floral expression showing he had numerous friends, besides the church
could not hold all the people attending the funeral. He was a member of
the Methodist church and also a member of the Omaha Odd Fellow Lodge.
In addition to what
we have tried to do say and do personally we want to try and say our
hearts are heavy with sorrow for the bereaved ones. You'll all miss
him, let's take comfort to know that he has gone where you can be with
him again.
