Jenkins is on the shores of Ellison Creek Reservoir on U.S. Highway 259, four miles south of Daingerfield in southern Morris County. It was originally settled as a lumbering site around 1875 and had a post office from 1892 to 1907. In the early 1930s Jenkins had one rated business and a population of ten, and in the mid-1940s it had three businesses and a population of eighty. No later population estimates were available. In 1984 the town had a church and two businesses.
