BROWN, LOTTIE                                      February 17, 1910 � March 22, 2008

Services for Ms. Lottie Brown, 98, of Omaha, were March 29, 2008, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Daingerfield, with the Rev. C. Mitchell officiating.  Ms. Brown was born February 17, 1910, in Omaha.   She died March 22, 2008, in Longview.  She attended Mt. Moriah Elementary School and was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and Charlie Brown; two sons, Milton and Melvin Mims; a daughter, Vernell White; a brother, Bill Brown; two sisters, Cleoria Kemp and Mollie Smith; and a grandson, the Rev. Willie Searcy.  Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Margine Mims; grandsons and spouses, Thomas White, Earnest and Mickey Garrett, Rickey and Susan Mims, Allen and Luwana Mims, Edwin and Shawnda Mims all of Daingerfield, David Mims and Rodney and Shree Mims all of Houston; granddaughters, Kathryn Goodwin and Jaquita White of Longview, Yvonne Mims of Dallas, and Mary and George Hurndon of Daingerfield; 33 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)


BRYANT, W. C. �DUB�                           January 12, 1946 � February 9, 2005

Services for Mr. W. C. �Dub� Bryant, 59, of Omaha, were Monday, Feb.14, 2005, at the Mt. Zion CME Church in Daingerfield, with the Rev. Jane M Nickleberry officiating.  Mr. Bryant was born Jan. 12, 1946, in Daingerfield.  He died Feb. 9, 2005, in a Paris, TX, hospital.  He was retired from Lone Star Steel Co. and was a veteran of the US Air Force.  Survivors include his wife, Doris Bryant of Omaha; two sons, William Jr. Bryant and Patrick Bryant of Killeen, TX; four daughters, Sandra Hopkins and Leslie Denmon of Dallas, Niakesha Douglas of Lone Star, and Danielle Bryant of Omaha; one sister, Jean mason of Daingerfield; eight grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.  Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)


BUFORD, ERMA                                        December 18, 1936 � June 13, 1995

ERMA BUFORD, 56, of Daingerfield, died Tuesday, June 13, 1995, at Titus County Memorial Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.  Services were at 2 pm Saturday, June 17, at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Daingerfield, with Elder Alfred Key Sr. officiating.  Burial was in the Whitmore Cemetery at Daingerfield.  Mrs. Buford was born December 18, 1936, in Morris County.  She was retired from Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas as a dietitian.  She was a member of the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.  Survivors include her husband, Willie Buford of Daingerfield; one son, Ray Charles Moore of Daingerfield; one step-daughter, Raeland Dean Buford of Dallas; four brothers, Lawrence Lee of Greenville, Bobbie Lee of Dallas, and Kenneth Lee and Terry Lee, both of Daingerfield; seven sisters, Dorothy Lee, Lola Hayes, Marilyn Frazier, Charlie M. Younger and Gwendolyn Frederick, all of Daingerfield, Ada Gotcher of Greenville, and Paula Hill of Omaha; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. (Row 2)


FIELDS, SANDRA �TINA�                                January 9, 1964 � April 4, 2004

Services for Mrs. Sandra �Tina� Fields, 40, of Omaha, were Friday, April9, 2004, at Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ in Omaha with Joe Earl Rivers officiating.  Mrs. Fields was born January 9, 1964, in Morris Co.  She died Sunday, April 4, 2004, in Pittsburg.  She was employed with Pilgrim�s and a member of Mitchell Church of Christ.  Survivors include her husband, Keith Fields of Cason; four children, Leslie, Charlie Jr., Sekeithia and Kaderius; her mother, Lessie B. Robinson of Omaha; five brothers, Carl Robinson of Hughes Springs, Charles Wayne Robinson and Elvis Robinson of Daingerfield, LaRone Robinson of Waco and Anthony Robinson of Longview; four sisters, Josephine Adams of Gainesville, Deloris Sanders, Diane Cole and Liza Wallace, all of Daingerfield; and a host of other relatives.  Interment was at Whitmore Cemetery in Daingerfield.  (Location Unknown)


JONES, HENRY LEE                                               July 20, 1943 � June 4, 1996

Henry Lee Jones, 52, died Tuesday, June 4, at his home.  Funeral services were at 11 am, Saturday, June 8, at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Daingerfield with the Rev. Willie Searcy officiating.  Burial was in the Whitmore Cemetery.  Mr. Jones was born July 20, 1943, in Daingerfield and was employed by the Whirlpool Corporation.  Survivors include his mother, Eva Mae Jones of Daingerfield; three daughters, Chasity Jones and Angela Jones, both of Dallas, and Thelma Rogers of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Melvin Traylor and Lee McMillian, both of Greenville, and Richard Brown of Seattle, WA; three sisters, Verna Lee Smith and Willie Mae Jones, both of Daingerfield, and Vernell Leeper of Stamps, AR; two brothers, M. J. Jones Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Hershel Hughes of Daingerfield; three aunts, Louella Cannon and Jessie Ruth Austin, both of Daingerfield, and Bessie Faye King of Cason; two uncles, Cecil Gilstrap of Tulsa, OK, and John Carpenter of CA; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.  (Row 5)


JONES, MARY JANE                                           April 1, 1913 � June 21, 2000

Services for Mrs. Mary Jane Jones, 87, of Daingerfield were Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. J. M. Brooks officiating.  Mrs. Jones was born April 1, 1913 in Morris Co.  She died Wednesday, June 21, 2000.  She was a homemaker and a Baptist.  Survivors include one step-son, Dewitt Jones; one daughter and son-in-law, Willie Mae and M. C. Lafayette all of Naples; four step-daughters, Charlene Johnson of Naples, Anna Joe Mitchell of Mt. Pleasant, Nona Ruth Barber and Fannie Rogers of Daingerfield; one sister, Susie Knight of Marshall; one granddaughter, Karen O�Kere and one great-grandson, Seneca O�Kere, both of Dallas.  Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)


LAFAYETTE, M. C.                                              June 17, 1945 � April 22, 2009

Services for Mr. M. C. Lafayette, 63, of Naples, were April 28, 2009, at Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J. M. Brooks officiating.  Mr. Lafayette was born June 17, 1945, in Morris County.  He died April 22, 2009, in Dallas.  He worked as a foreman for U. S. Steel, was a deacon at Williams Chapel and he loved fishing.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Lafayette; and a sister, Mary Sharp.  Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen and Stevie McGill and Janice Sewell of Dallas; one sister, Alma of Hope, Arkansas; three brothers, Joe Lafayette of Daingerfield, Willie George Lafayette Jr., of Dallas, and Leon Lafayette of Daingerfield; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.  Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery in Daingerfield.   (Location Unknown)


LAFAYETTE, WILLIE MAE                              November 23, 1944 � November 25, 2003

Services for Mrs. Willie Mae Lafayette, 59, of Naples were Saturday, November 29, 2003, at Williams Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt Harris officiating.  Mrs. Lafayette was born November 23, 1944, in Pittsburg.  She died Tuesday, November 25, 2003, in Longview.  She was a nurse�s aide.  Survivors include her husband, M. C. Lafayette of Naples; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Stevie McGill of Dallas; one sister, Anna Joe Mitchell of Mt. Pleasant; and one grandson, Seneca O�Kere of Dallas.  Interment was at Whitmore Cemetery. (Location Unknown)


LAWTON, A. W.                                                   April 5, 1930 � July 7, 2007

Services for Elder A.W. Lawton, 77, of Daingerfield, were held July 7 at Daingerfield High School Auditorium with Elder Alfred Key Jr. officiating. Interment was in Whitmore Cemetery in Daingerfield. Arrangements were under Harmon Funeral Home. Mr. Lawton was born April 5, 1930, in Daingerfield, and died July 2 at Cypress Basin Hospice. Mr. Lawton was the pastor of the Mount Olive Church of God. A lifetime resident of Daingerfield, Mr. Lawton served as a county commissioner. He was also superintendent of the Daingerfield water department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors include his wife Marguerite of Daingerfield; three sons, Alvin W. Lawton and wife, Marcia of Dallas; Richard Lee Lawton and wife, Charlotte of Gladewater; and Charles Austin of Daingerfield; one daughter, Rena Jones and husband, Jerry of Mount Pleasant; four brothers, Earnest Lawton and wife, Delois and Wilbert Lawton and wife, Marcie, all of Seattle, Wash., Leon Lawton Jr. and wife, Charlene of Dallas, and Jimmy Lawton and wife, Yvonne of Daingerfield; five sisters, Bonnie Evans and husband, L.V. and Mary Rodgers and husband, Thomas, all of Daingerfield, Marise Banks and husband Roy of Mims, Dorothy Thompson and husband, Alton and Mary Smith and husband, Billie, all of Dallas; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Mr. Lawton�s nephews and brothers served as pallbearers.


LEWIS, ARTHUR LEE JR.                           June 26, 1935 � February 21, 2005

Services for Mr. Arthur Lee Lewis Jr., 69, of Naples, were to be Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Wallick Chapel Christian Church at Daingerfield, with the Rev. A. O. Sasser and Elder Wayne Roberson officiating.  Mr. Lewis was born June 26, 1935, in Morris Co.  He died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at a Pittsburg nursing center.  He was retired from Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Richardson.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby L. Horne.  Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lewis; one daughter, Shelby Elaine Lewis; one son, Arthur Lee Lewis III; all of Naples; one brother, Otice L. Lewis (Grace) of Goldsboro, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)


MITCHELL, ANGELEAN                         June 19, 1938 � September 21, 1995

ANGELEAN MITCHELL, 57, of Omaha, Texas, died Thursday, September 21, 1995, in a Mount Pleasant, TX, hospital.  Mrs. Mitchell was born June 19, 1938, in Omaha.  She was a homemaker and member of Brown Temple Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by one son, Graylin Mitchell.  Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Mitchell; two sisters, Mary Witson and Faye Johnson of Dallas, Texas; one aunt, Luda Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; a special niece, Betty Taylor of Dallas; and a number of nieces and nephews.  Services were 11 am, Monday, September 25, 1995 at the Mount Zion CME Church with the Rev. Houston officiating.  Burial was in the Whitmore Cemetery at Daingerfield. (Row 1)


MITCHELL, WINDELL                                                         1918 � May 5, 1996

Windell William Mitchell of Daingerfield, died Sunday, May 5, at his home.  Funeral services were at 2 pm, Saturday, May 11, at the Mt. Zion CME Church with the Rev. R. A. Lewis officiating.  Burial was in the Whitmore Cemetery.  Mr. Mitchell was born in Daingerfield and was an employee of Red River Army Depot.  He was a member and Sunday school teacher of the Mt. Zion CME Church.  Survivors include his wife, Clyde Mitchell of Daingerfield; three sons, Mark Mitchell of Hawaii, Bobby Mitchell of Daingerfield, and Al Mitchell of Linden; two daughters, Narcissie Johnson of Omaha, and Hattie Holloman of Naples. MOORE, OTHA MAE                           September 24, 1958 � February 3, 2008

Services for Otha Mae Moore, 49, of Pittsburg, were held Feb. 9 at Faith Temple Church of Christ with Joel Tudman officiating. Interment was in Whitmore Cemetery. Ms. Moore was born Sept. 24, 1958, in Daingerfield, and died Feb. 3 in East Texas Medical Center Pittsburg.   (LOCATION UNKNOWN)


SEARCY, WILLIE EARL                        February 21, 1953 � March 20, 2004

Services for Mr. Willie Earl Searcy, 51, of Mt. Pleasant, were Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Daingerfield High School auditorium with the Rev. H. E. Rodgers officiating.  The Rev. Searcy was born Feb. 21, 1953, in Daingerfield.  He died Saturday, Mar. 20, 2004, in Tyler.  He was a co-founder and current pastor of Marathana COGIC, a former school teacher, former employee of Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education Dept., where he helped establish the Northeast Adult Ed Center and education program at Titus Co. Jain, and recipient of the 1999 Texas Assoc. for Literacy and Adult Ed Part-time Teacher of the Year Award.  Survivors include two sons, Durant Tarver of Dallas and Danny Hill of Mt. Pleasant; his parents, Milton and Margine Mims and L. V. and Mae Ozzie Searcy of Daingerfield and C. B. Smith of Cason; nine brothers, Rodney Mims and David Mims, both of Houston, Earnest Garrett, Ricky Mims, Allen Mims, Edwin Mims, Guy Searcy and Gary Taylor of Daingerfield and Rodney Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; eight sisters, Yvonne Mims, Mary Hurndon and Mary Searcy of Daingerfield, Eloise Smith and Phyllis Smith of Lone Star, Tondalyn Smith and Evelyn Searcy of Dallas and Francis Searcy of Arlington; his grandmother, Arvella Garrett of Daingerfield; and a number of other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Campbell.  Interment was at Whitmore Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)


SMITH, MELVIN                                               May 25, 1920 � July 23, 2000

Services for Mr. Melvin Smith, 80, of Omaha were Saturday, July 29, 2000 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Daingerfield with the Rev. Bertrain Bailey officiating.  Mr. Smith was born may 25, 1920 in Omaha.  He died Sunday, July 23, 2000 in a Tyler hospital.  He was retired from Red River Army Depot, member and deacon of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and Army veteran of World War II.  Survivors include three sons, Billy Smith and Tony Smith, both of Dallas and Steve Smith of Clarksville; three daughters, Joyce Durham of Waco, Melva Hicks of Dallas and Patricia Evans of Daingerfield; four brothers; four sisters; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one special friend, Jessie Mae Harris.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene. Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery.  (Row 16)


STERN, ALMA                                             November 3, 1918 � July 27, 2007

Services for Alma Stern, 88, of Omaha, were August 1, 2007, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. D. A. Hill officiating.  Mrs. Stern was born November 3, 1918, in Morris County.  She died July 27, 2007 in Daingerfield.  She was a cook at Windsor Place.  Survivors include four nieces that she raised as her children, Gloria Douglas of Omaha, Josephine Choice of Ft. Worth, Betty Conwright of Humble, and Zetha Fisher of Tyler; two nephews that she raised as her children, Melvin Smith of Daingerfield, and Paul Bell of Houston; sister, Henrietta Bell of Omaha; and brother, Earnest Henderson of Arkansas.  Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery of Daingerfield under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc.


STERN, LOUISE                                                  March 8, 1912 � April 27, 1999

Services for Mrs. Louise Stern, 87, of Daingerfield, were held Saturday May 1, 1999 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Daingerfield with Rev. W. R. Washington officiating.  Mrs. Stern was born March 8, 1912 in Morris Co.  She died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in a Mt. Pleasant hospital.  She was a homemaker, served as president of Northeast Women�s Association, president of Minister�s Wives Tea Unity Association, and president of Mission Board, Sunday school teacher and was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Rev. Richard Stern, Jr.; two sons, Harold Stern of Dallas and R. D. Stern of Daingerfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Joshua Dixon of Dallas; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson and Alma Stern, all of Daingerfield, and Mattie Finley of Dallas; one sister, Catherine Jones, Kansas City MO; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  Burial was in Whitmore Cemetery in Daingerfield.  (Row 15)


WATSON, ERNEST JR.                                December 31, 1953 � April 9, 2006

Services for Mr. Ernest Watson Jr., 53, of Daingerfield, were Friday, April 15, 2006, at New Hope Baptist Church in Daingerfield with the Rev. Alfred Key Jr. officiating.  Mr. Watson was born December 31, 1953, in Daingerfield.  He died Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Lancaster, CA.  He was a member of Growing Valley Baptist Church.  Survivors include one son, Alex Watson of Daingerfield; three daughters, Chonita Watson of Daingerfield, Keisha Lawson of Atlanta and Ashley Watson of Lancaster, CA; three brothers, William Watson, Tony Favors and Paul Watson; four sisters, Barbara Watson, Gloria McNary, Heather Walker and Andrea Watson; and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister.  Interment was at Whitmore Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)


WATSON, LELAND                               November 28, 1914 � October 14, 2000

Services for Mr. Leland Watson, 86, of Omaha were Thursday, October 19,2000 at Wallick Christian Chapel Church with A. W. Lawton officiating.  Mr. Watson was born November 28, 1914 in Daingerfield.  He died Saturday, October 14, 2000 in Mt. Pleasant.  He was retired from Lone Star Steel and a member of Wallick Chapel Christian Church.  Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law John Stewart of Wichita, KS, Ricky and Debra Watson of Mt. Pleasant and Harold Watson of Pittsburg, three daughters and two sons-in-law Gladys and Richard Chism of Mt. Pleasant and Ora and Vernon Everett and Elma Faye Watson of Dallas; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Luna Watson, daughter Dessie Ruth Watson and son Charles Watson.  Interment was in Whitmore Cemetery.  (Row 13)
