SUSAN WALK is a cousin of mine. I just sent you an e-mail about her daughter SUSAN CATHERINE WALK (1850-1903) who married WILBURN WILSON QUEEN and lived in Mills County.

SAMUEL GEORGE WALK was born c1809 in Davidson Co., NC. He died c1869 in Scott County, Mississippi. He married SUSAN CATHERINE SMITH (1814-1886) in c1837 after his first wife died. SUSAN was born in NC. They moved to Scott County, Mississippi in about 1847. After SAMUEL died in c1869 the family moved to Texas, eventually settling in Mills County where the mother, SUSAN CATHERINE SMITH WALK died in 1886.

I have quite a bit of info on their children, but little on SUSAN CATHERINE WALK QUEEN.

Thank you so much for your e-mail on the QUEEN family. I will contact the people you suggested. I don't think the QUEEN family I am interested in is part of the REUBEN QUEEN family who came from North Carolina. WILBURN WILSON QUEEN was born Sep 1844 in Georgia. WILBUR WILSON QUEEN is possibly a brother of the W.J. QUEEN, whose obituary you sent me.

I enclose a page on SAMUEL GEORGE WALK (husband of SUSAN CATHERINE SMITH WALK) and their two children who settled in Mills County; SUSAN CATHERINE WALK (1850-1903) who married WILBURN WILSON QUEEN; and AMELIA ANN WALK (1860-1948) who married JOHN DULFIN DONALDSON BERRY.

You are most welcome to add the WALK information to the Rock Springs Cemetery page or anywhere else you choose. Three of SAMUEL GEORGE WALK and SUSAN CATHERINE SMITH WALK's children (SARAH HASELTINE WALK, WILLIAM W. WALK and ALBERT BROWN WALK) went to Downey, California in about 1888. They were horse raisers in Texas and moved their whole herd to Southern California. I have quite a bit more information on them if anyone is ever interested. I am working on a massive WALK family tree.

WALK is buried at the Gobble Cemetery, near Tyro, Davidson County, North Carolina. In 1850 the family was living at Davidson County, North Carolina (page 279 on the census) with the parents, JAMES H., JOHN A, GEORGE W. and SARAH H. In 1860 SAMUEL, SARAH S., and children: JAMES, JOHN, WASHINGTON, SARAH, SUSAN, WILLIAM and ALBERT were living at Sherman Hill, Scott County, Mississippi (page 073 in the census). SUSAN, and all of the children older than her, were listed as being born in North Carolina. WILLIAM and ALBERT were listed as being born in Mississippi.
