The Cecil Lee American Legion Post 649 was organized in 1948 and named for WWII casualty Cecil Lee. The bricks for the current building were from the Pal-Port Brick Company in Palacios. The facility opened on September 1, 1961, just in time to house 300 Hurricane Carla refugees. Many historic pictures line the walls of the restaurant.
