Marybelle Jane Davis

Mary Bell Jane Davis

A deplorable accident which took the life of baby Mary Jane Davis, the year-old child of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Davis of Newgulf, occurred at Ashwood at the home of the child’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Davis, Sunday afternoon.

The child was playing in the yard where a half barrel had been put partly in the ground for stock water. This was partially filled with water and the baby tumbled into it. She was lifeless when found and was rushed [to] the Loos Hospital for an effort of resuscitation, which proved futile.

The remains were turned over to Taylor Brothers for burial. Services were held at the Taylor Brothers parlors this afternoon conducted by Reverend Ramsey of the Methodist Church.

The burial followed immediately at Cedarvale. The distracted parents and the heartbroken grandparents have the most profound sympathy of everyone.

Little Mary Bell Jane is survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Davis, her little brother, Gale Lee, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Davis, aunt, Mrs. A. L. Rhodes of Ashwood and uncle, I. N. Davis of Houston.
