Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Old Courthouse on the Main Square in Centerville, Texas. The public is always invited.


Our library is located across the street from the Old Courthouse in Centerville, Texas. The library collection contains over 1400 books (some private manuscripts) some 100 rolls of microfilm and many Quarterly newsletters. The library has a computer with marriage records on CD, Social Security Index on CD. The library is constantly collecting additional materials to preserve our history. We are open to the public Monday through Friday from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p.m.

Volume 1; Includes early newspaper clippings,pictures, first part of Men From Leon County in the Civil War.

Volume 2; Includes early schools, teachers & students, early Masonic lodge records and membership roll. Teachers Journal 1866-1871. 1852-1855 newspaper "The Leon County Pioneer" "WOW" records and more.

Volume 3; Includes James P. Parker's "Cedar Creek Gin Ledger" with many names not recorded elseware, 1868 Voters List & more.

Marriage Records

1885 - 1910 The first volume of marriages was lost in the court house fire. Grooms alphabetized by first letter of surname, includes bride's surname index.
