St. James Church

Feb. 5, 1905

Yesterday was an auspicious day for St. James church of Texarkana.  For the past nine months the church has been closed on account of the parish being without a rector, but the vestry recently called the Rev. Henry Knott, of Chicago, and he was installed as rector by Bishop Garrett at the morning service yesterday.  The faithful parishioners and many visitors from other denominations thronged the church and taxed its seating capacity.  The office of institution was read by the venerable bishop, who is greatly beloved here and over the entire diocese.  Rev. Mr. Knott conducted the remainder of the service, all of which was very impressive.  Mr. Knott is a comparatively young man.  He has a strong sympathetic voice and his earnestness makes the services unusually impressive.  Texarkana paper
