Organized by the Rev. George S. Sexton in 1888.  A warranty deed issued in March of 1889 states that the Texarkana Land and Improvement Company received the sum of $75.   from "James Goodwin, J. J. Peavy, and George W. Bell as Trustees and their successors.  The same year the church home, a simple frame building was erected, located on the corner of Pearl and Grape Streets, one block south of the Cotton Belt Hospital.

The Rev. H. H. Watson was Presiding Elder of Camden District, which then embraced Texarkana.

New Sanctuary:  In August 1920 a building movement was inaugurated by Circle B. of the Women's Missionary Society.  Mrs. F. T. Wright placed the first contribution.  Under the pastorate of the Rev. B. F. Roebuck, plans for a new church home took shape.  A plot of ground at Rose and Kirby Streets was donated by J. A. Hankins.  Members of the building committee were B. O. Womble, F. T. Wright, T. J. Elrod, E. C. Black, C. C. Stuart, Charles Burgess, E. W. Bynum and J. a. Hankins.  This was to be a brick sanctuary.  Erected with J. B. Oates as builder.  Dr. George S.
