Harris who was slain while raiding a still last July, is the
only one actually announced opposition against Sheriff R.W.
Turquette.
HARRY OLIVER - chief deputy during the
brief Harris adm. Oliver was associated with Will Harris
who was jailer during the Harris regime.
FLEET MAGEE - who was defeated by
Harris in 1930. Magee is a veteran peace officer in Miller Co.
PAT ELAM - Fouke merchant and
landowner.

Texarkana Gazette - Roland Hitchcock
and Miss Ruth Crawford both of Texarkana were married in the
Texarkana Ark. police station. The couple said they could
find no other place to get married that they had attempted
to locate friends and none were home. Police acted as
witnesses.

Texarkana Papers: Three persons injured in an automobile
crash a mile south of Texarkana on the Atlanta Highway Wednesday
night were recuperating Thursday, two of them at a hospital, the
third at his residence. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Duncan, who
received severe lacerations on the face and head and body
bruises remained at Michael Meagher hospital for additional
treatment. Their two children, Melton, 4, and Richard, 2,
were slightly scratched. The Duncan's were injured when
the car in which they were proceeding to their home on route
two, Texarkana, Texas figured in a crash with a milk truck
driven by Jewell Jones, 24. Jones was confined to his bed
at home Thursday. He received a incarnation on his face,
an injury to one eye and a slightly crushed hand. Bowie
county officers said the Duncan machine was using a lantern for
headlights at the time of the crash. The milk truck
overturned spilling the cargo______. TJU

Ollie Colemar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Colemar, route 1,
returned from the crippled children’s hospital at Little Rock.
Henry Calvin Ivy, 8 son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Ivy, route
1, and Claudle Whitehurst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Whitehurst, route 3 were called to the clinic in Little Rock. Jo
Ann Stuart, 8 daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Critten Stuart, whor
reside near Ashdown Ark. Returned to the hospital. |
