An Early Kerr County Document of Interest
This Deed dated 16 Mar 1875 bears
the signatures of
Joshua D. Brown, James M. Starkey and Joseph A. Tivy,
three prominent Kerr County pioneers.
It is a bit difficult to read so a transcription can be found
at the bottom of the page.

Transcription of the above Deed:
"The State of Texas )
County of Kerr ) Be it
remembered that on this the 16th day of March One thousand eight hundred and
seventy
Five before me A. McFarland, Clerk of the District Court in and for said County
and State, personally appeared
Joshua D. Brown of said State and County who being by me duly sworn, upon oath
deposes and says that
he is Fifty Five (55) years of age, that he participated in the Revolution of
Texas against the Republic of Mexico
and that he is the identical Joshua D. Brown who is a Pension Claimant.
And on the same day personally appeared before me James M. Starkey and Joseph A.
Tivy
of the said County and State, to me well known as credible persons, who, being
by me duly sworn,
upon their oath say that they have known Joshua D. Brown the above applicant for
the period of
Eighteen years and that he is the identical person he represents himself to be.
And that they have no interest in this claim.
