Fred M. McCree and Sallie Gilstrap were my grandparents. Some of the above comes from personal knowledge and family records in my possession. This McCree family moved from Alabama to Texas between 1892 and 1895. Carrie Benge McCree died in childbirth in Forney, Kaufman County, Texas in 1909. Alfred McCree then left the family, with the older children raising the younger ones. By 1920 they had all left Kaufman County. Alfred's mother, Eliza Johnson McCree lived with the family. She died 12/22/1903 and is buried in Kaufman County, Texas.
