J. I. Trussell, 90, passed away in Abilene, Texas, October 1, 2011. Services will be held at Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 with Bro. Morris Johnson and Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Burial will be at the Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes of Rule, Texas. A visitation is scheduled for Monday evening 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

J. I. was born February 1, 1921 in Henderson County, Texas to Robert Clayton (R.C.) and Beulah May (Roberson) Trussell. He married Dorothy Ashley in Haskell County in 1944 and resided in Haskell the majority of his life. Dorothy preceded him in death in 2008. J. I. is a retired machinist and a member of the Cornerstone Fellowship Baptish Church.
J.I. is survived by his daughter Rayna Wyatt and husband Robert of Haskell; son Roy Trussell and wife Nancy of Rochester; four sisters, Jimmie Darden of Haskell, Linnie McEntire of Potosi, TX, Betty Pannel of Tye, TX, and Marie Culverth of Abilene, TX; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; parents, R.C. and Beulah; 3 brothers, Robert, Billy Ray, and R.V. (Doc) Trussell; and 2 sisters, Altha Howth and Opal Tidrow.
Memorials can be given to Hendrick Hospice of Abilene or Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church.
