Warren D. Short
1932 - 2012

Warren D. Short
Rochester

Warren D. Short, 79, of Rochester went to be with his Lord on Monday, March 19, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at First Baptist Church in Rochester with the Rev. Joseph Barrett and the Rev. Truett Kuenstler officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes of Rule.

Born December 20, 1932, near Rule to Tennie Mae (Foster) and Ira D. Short, Warren graduated from Rochester High School in 1950. He married his high school sweetheart, Jane Michaels, on December 15, 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a cotton and peanut farmer and raised cattle. He served on the Rochester ISD School Board for many years and was one of the first directors of Home State Bank in Rochester. He attended First Baptist Church in Rochester.

Warren, or "Pappy" to his grandchildren and many others, was a cherished friend to many. Some of the best memories were from his horse racing days, when he and Jane would travel the region. He loved watching old Western movies and baseball, especially the Texas Rangers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.   Survivors include his wife, Jane; his son, Larry Warren Short and wife Linda of Rochester; and two grandchildren, Mary Jane and husband Nathan Buerkle of Lubbock, and Ross Short of Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church in Rochester, the Rochester Cemetery Association, the Rochester Heritage Museum and Library, or your favorite charity .
