Vivian Curtis Roberson, at the age of 103, passed away Monday evening, April 30, 2012 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Haskell with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating.
Burial will follow at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A family visitation is planned for Friday evening, May 4 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vivian Louise Curtis was born January 10, 1909, in Jones County to Sarah Frances Curry and William Preston Curtis. The young family moved to Haskell County when Vivian was one year old and where she lived the remainder of her life. She had one brother, Hugh Curtis, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Roberson graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with at B.S. in Education.

She married Thomas B. Roberson in Avoca, Texas, on December 26, 1930. She and her husband taught in several rural schools in O'Brien and Haskell during the decades to follow. Mrs. Roberson taught elementary education for more than 40 years in Haskell County and enjoyed a life-long continuing relationship with a vast number of her former students and their families. Her love of children and ability to communicate with all age groups was remarkable. Her zest for life was obvious and shared with many including neighbors, Haskell School faculty and parents of students, members of First Baptist Church in Haskell, the Retired Teachers Association and many others. She was a tenacious and successful gardener of flowers, vegetables and fruits and leader of the local Garden Club and a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years.

Mrs. Roberson is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ballard Roberson; her twin daughters, Robbie Lou Roberson Drinnon and Sara Sue Roberson Jones; and her brother, Hugh Curtis.

She is survived by her 3 grandchildren, Stephen W. Drinnon of Dallas, David T. Drinnon of Denton, and Lisa Jones Whiteley of Norman, OK. Her great grandchildren include: Damon Drinnon, Mitchell Drinnon, Chase Drinnon, David Cleatus Drinnon, and Lauren Whiteley. Her great - great grandchildren include: Hayven Drinnon, Maddox Drinnon, Dillon Drinnon & Mason Drinnon.
