Haskell
Doris G. Reeves, 88, passed away in the early
morning hours of Sunday, March 4, 2012 in
Abilene, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00
a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the First
Baptist Church in Haskell. Visitation is
scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 6 from 6:00
to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Doris Toliver was born July 8, 1923, in Haskell
County to Owen and Veda (Turnbow) Toliver. She
lived her entire life in Haskell and is a
graduate of Weinert High School. She married
Bill Reeves, who preceded her in death, on
September 14, 1941, in Haskell. Then, on
December 27, 1987, she married Curtis L. Jordan,
who also has preceded her in death.
Doris
worked as a bookkeeper and cotton buyer. She was
a charter member of Ruth Bible Class, member of
Win All Bible Class, and Lydia Sunday School
Class. She was a former member of Josselett Home
Demonstration Club, Brazos West Art Club,
Progressive Womens Study Club and Eastern Star.
Along with her husbands, she is preceded in
death by her parents, Owen Toliver and Veda
Drinnon; 3 brothers, Robert A. Drinnon, Cleatus
W. Drinnon, and George W. Drinnon.
Doris is survived by her daughter Pam Tipton and
her husband Carl of Lubbock; a son, Wayne Reeves
and wife Kathy of Sulphur Springs; 2
granddaughters, Allison Jurskis and husband
Chester of Dallas, Ashley Jones and husband Jeff
also of Dallas; a grandson, William Wayne
(Tripp) Reeves of Sulphur Springs; 1
great-granddaughter, Addison Jones, and 3
great-grandsons, Dawson Jurskis, Hudson Jurskis,
and Will Jones; a step-son, Robert Jordan and
wife Trudi of Upland, CA; 2 sisters, Julia
Harrell and husband Mike, and Geneva Robertson,
all of Haskell; and numerous nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
