Clarence W. Presswood, Jr. Abilene Clarence W. Presswood, Jr., 79, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at a local medical center. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Monday, October 24, 2011 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Reid, Rev. Stan Allcorn, Rev. Jack Ridlehoover, and Shawn Ashmore officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6p.m. at the funeral home. Clarence was born on April 5, 1932 in Albuquerque, NM to Clarence and Doris (Ward) Presswood, Sr. A lifetime resident of the Big Country, he graduated from Abilene High School and attended Tarleton State College and Hardin-Simmons University. Clarence married Dorothy Fouts on June 19, 1955 in Haskell, TX. He was employed by Texas State Technical College in Abilene as a maintenance supervisor before his retirement, and was previously associated with the construction business for 25 years. Clarence was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene and a member of the Intergenerational Sunday School Class of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church as well. A member of the Kiwanis Club of Abilene, he received the 2004-2005 Kiwanian of the Year award for volunteer services and was also involved in the See By Three program with the Kiwanis Club. Clarence loved to volunteer his time to work for the West Texas Fair and Rodeo as well as Western Heritage and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, C.W. and Doris Presswood. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fouts Presswood of Abilene; his son, Jim Bob Presswood and wife Sylvia of Missouri City, TX; his daughter, Deborah Ashmore and husband Don of Abilene; a brother, Lee Presswood and wife Margaret of Snyder; a sister Gail Killough of Abilene; grandchildren, Cody and wife Krista Presswood, Kylie Presswood, Shawn Ashmore and wife Alison, Kevin Ashmore and fiancé Allison Bray, and Brent Ashmore; great-grandchildren, triplets: Katherine, Caylee, and Kinsley Presswood, and Titus Bray. Pallbearers will be Shawn, Kevin, and Brent Ashmore, and Cody, Vernon, and Lloyd Presswood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehab, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605.
