Leonard Menchaca, Sr. of Rule passed away
December 31, 2011, at his home. He was 76 years
old.
Services will be held at St. George Catholic
Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, in
Haskell with Fr. George Roney officiating.
Burial will be at the Rule Cemetery under the
direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Mr. Menchaca was born in Del-Valle, Texas on
August 21, 1935, to Soledad and Manuel Menchaca.
He married Mary Hazo in Austin, Texas on August
4, 1957, at the First Mexican Baptist Church. He
and Mary have resided in Rule for 46 years.
Leonard was a well known carpenter of the area
and very respected in his field. He was also a
member of the American Sportsman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Solidad
and Manuel Menchaca; daughter, Jessica Menchaca;
two brothers, Manuel and Rufus Menchaca; and
sisters Mary Hatley and Esther Crawford.
Leonard will be missed by his wife, Mary
Menchaca of Rule; sons John Menchaca and wife
Tina of Princeton, Texas and Leonard Menchaca,
Jr. of Rule; daughters, Cindy Campbell and
husband Doug of Abilene, and Betty Menchaca of
Rule; grandchildren, Rhonda Ross, Stephanie
Menchaca, Nina Young, Felix Menchaca, Tiffany
Campbell and Julian Menchaca;
great-grandchildren, Luke, Caiton, Lyric, Lyla,
Aubree, and Maricia; brother Paul Menchaca and
wife Lorine of Austin; a sister, Petra Moreno
and husband Hygrio of San Antonio; and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
