Funeral services for Dela Faye (Massengale)
Tibbets McLain, 87, of Trinity, Texas will be
held 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2011 at
Church of Christ in Rule with John Greeson and
Tommy Scarmardo officiating. Burial will be at
the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of
Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Mrs. McLain passed away Friday, December 2 in
Houston.
Born September 2, 1924, in Flo, Texas, she was
the daughter of Bill and Lois Massengale. She
married Ozzie Jessie Tibbets in Benjamin, Texas
April 28, 1942, and lived more than 40 years in
Rochester. Ozzie passed away in June of 1983.
They owned 200 acres in Haskell County which
they farmed, raising cotton. Dela also worked as
a manager and bookkeeper at The Ridge & Maridee
Motel in Breckenridge. She was a member of the
Church of Christ and spent many years as the
Sunday School Teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ozzie
Tibbets and 2nd husband Bob McLain; her parents,
Bill and Lois Massengale; her sister Nadine; 3
brothers, Merle, Alvin, and Lloyd Earl; and a
step-son Bobby J. McLain.
Survivors include her daughter Darlene McKinley
of Trinity, Texas, two sons, Buddy Tibbets of
Haskell, Texas and Travis Tibbets of Pampa,
Texas; step-son, Pat McLain of Irving, Texas;
two sisters, Anita Giles and husband Gary of
Arroya Grande, CA and Mary Brock and husband
Harold of Bakersfield, CA; 10 grandchildren,
Cami Scarmardo and husband Tommy of Cypress,
Heath Tibbets and wife Shanna of Idalou, Karen
Ivy and husband Johnny of Trinity, Sheila Been
and husband Mike of Pampa, Angela Mitchell and
husbandSteven of Baird, Jerred Tibbets and wife
Tina of Pampa, Amy Easterling of Anson, Laura
Macias and husband Nathan of Anson, Cody Tibbets
of Haskell and Steven Tibbets and wife Katie of
Amarillo; 25 great-grandchildren, Hillary, Haley
Tre', Chelsea, Colton, Josh, Jeremy, Brian,
Brittany, Skyler, Madison, Ty, Katelynn, Tate,
Lauren, Sheldon, Taylor, Ashlynn, Courtney,
Regan, Haley, Lauren, Ethan, Seth and Bryce and
one great-great grandchild, Raylen.
