Audrey Green English passed from this life on February 7, 2012. She was 90 years old. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012, at Willow Cemetery in Haskell with Rev. Joseph Barrett officiating. A memorial service will immediately follow at the First Baptist Church in Rochester. Services were arranged under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes of Haskell.

Known as "Gran" by her grandchildren and most of the young people who knew her, she was a kind, compassionate and selfless person. She was a former teachers' aide with the Rochester School system and taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Rochester for many years. It was her greatest joy to work with young people. She played an enormous part in raising her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as, many others in the area. She will leave a lasting legacy that will influence them always.

Audrey Gose Green was born September 5, 1921 in the Paint Creek community. She married Albert English on October 16, 1952. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Acannus and Effie Green; brothers, Roy, Walter, Lorance, Dervin, and her twin Aubrey; her sister Zeleca Grand.

She is survived by one son, Tommy English and wife Jana of Idalou, Texas; one daughter, Nancy Stewart and husband Danny of Munday; grandchildren, Angela Burson and husband Patrick of Clyde, Karmen Neal and husband Jon of Lubbock, Michael Adkins and wife Janet of Haskell; Ginger Adkins of Lubbock, John English of Lubbock, Colton English of Idalou, Heather Wilhelm and husband Coby of Stamford, Justin Stewart and wife Angela of Weatherford, and Martin Ombak of Lubbock. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and two more due in the summer.
