Haskell
Thelma (Dean) Dunlap passed away Saturday,
November 26, 2011, in Abilene, Texas at the age
of 91. Graveside services will be held Monday,
November 28, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Willow
Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family
Funeral Homes. A visitation is scheduled for
Sunday, November 27, 2011, from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
at the funeral home, 304 N. 2nd Street.
Thelma was born December 24, 1919, in Alma,
Arkansas to Charlie and Oma (Lawrence) Dean. She
married Eugene Dunlap in Colorado City, Texas,
on February 3, 1939, and lived in Haskell since
1933. She was a homemaker and a member of
Eastside Baptist Church.
Thelma is survived by her son, James Dunlap and
his wife Judy of Haskell; her daughter, Shirley
Dunlap Parker of Haskell; a brother, Bill Dean
of Moffett, OK; a sister, Dorothy Johnson of Van
Buren, AR; 7 grandchildren; several great and
great-great grandchildren; and many loving
nieces and nephews and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene
Dunlap; her parents, Charlie and Oma Dean; 3
daughters, Leta Fay, Carolyn Wilborn, and Anita
Dunlap; 3 brothers, Bud, Doyle, and Carl Dean; 6
sisters, Ada May Strang, Ollie Phillips, Louise
Irvin, Ella May Winters, Helen Guinn, and Betty
Jo Watson.
Memorial contributions can be made in Thelma's
name to the Progressive Study Club of Haskell to
fund the Wall of Honor or to the Haskell
Experienced Citizens.
