Christmas Card
Christmas

Here is a Christmas card that might be of some interest.

"To Susie B & Link B  -- Mother Billings" (i.e., Mary Jane Hesskew Billings. a daughter of William A. Hesskew and Mary Ann Tronson)

This is not dated but obviously precedes Great-grandmother Billings' death in October 1919.  Since Susie and Link did not move from the Klein Branch, Harper, where Mary Jane probably lived nearby with Kieffer Billings and his wife Edith Walker, the unstamped card was probably delivered by hand.  Her husband, my Great-grandfather William Carroll Billings, had died in August 1907.  Thus, the card probably dates from 1907 to 1913.  It is a beautiful period card.

Mary Jane's mother, Mary Ann Tronson Billings, had died in the spring of 1912, while visiting Mary Jane and others of the Billings family living in the Harper area.  Since there are photos of Mary Jane digging sweet potatoes with Kieffer and his wife Edith Walker, she most likely likely lived with them during this time
