The Fredericksburg Genealogical Society of Gillespie County was organized in Fredericksburg, Texas on February 24, 1989, and is a non-profit organization. The objectives of the Society are to promote interest in and the recording of family history; to provide education and assistance to others in the techniques and study methods for genealogical research and recording; to collect and preserve family histories; to maintain a research library and an archival depository; and to preserve, index, study, and publish relevant documents.

Schoenwolf House, the library of the Fredericksburg Genealogical Society, recently reopened in a new location. Formerly at 513 E. Main, it has been moved to 108 N. Edison and renovated by Sam and Maxine Parker. The library is currently open Wednesday through Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. The telephone number there is 830/990-4045. The Society holds monthly meetings and educational programs on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. excepting June, July, and August. Meetings are held in the Schoenwolf House.

Membership is open to all persons who satisfy the annual dues requirement of $15.00 per person or $25.00 per couple residing in the same household. Patron membership is $100.00. Payment of annual dues, which is made in February, entitles each member (or couple) to receive one copy of each issue of The Gillespian, the Society's journal, during that calendar year.

Back issues of  The Gillespian  the Society's semi-annual journal, are available from the Society until the supply is exhausted.  Cost is $5.00 for members and $7.00 for non-members.  The Society and Editor cannot assume reponsibility for the accuraacy or authenticity of data published in the journal.
