Registration is now open for the Beginning Course of Genealogy 2000 offered by the Genealogy Society of Kendall County.  The two-week course will be offered on Thursday evenings and repeated on Saturday mornings, so participants can choose which time best fits their schedule.  The first evening class will be held January 20 from 6:30 to 9.pm. and the first Saturday class January 22 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Boerne Public Library.

The Beginning Course will cover such topics as Gathering Information from Home and Family, Collecting Vital Statistics, Recording Methods, Locating Ancestors and Migration Patterns and Using Family Search on the Internet and in Family History Centers.  The Beginning Course will be followed by a four week Intermediate Course covering census, military, court house, land and probate records and more in-depth use of the Internet for research.  The Beginning course, or its equivalent, is a prerequisite for the Intermediate course.

Advanced registration is strongly recommended, as space is limited to 25 students per session. Registration forms are available at the Library.  Cost is $10 for the Beginning Course and $25 for the Intermediate Course.   Students registering for both courses prior to January 10 will receive a $5.00 discount and beginning courses materials in a hardback notebook.      For additional information, call Mary Taylor, Registrar, 830-249-4006.
