Committee Descriptions
ABSTRACTING - To organize, instruct, and oversee the abstracting of Tarrant
County Records.
BIBLE RECORDS - To keep records of all information given to chair and
make available to any member seeking information. Maintain an index file
of published Texas Bible Records.
BUDGET AND FINANCE - Serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors
in matters pertaining to finance. The Treasurer serves as chair
automatically.
BYLAWS - To study the Society bylaws and make revisions from time to time
as needed to keep current.
CEMETERY RECORDS - To keep records of information given concerning Texas
cemeteries. To abstract all exchange quarterlies received by the society
in order to maintain an index file. To make records available to members
of society when requested.
GIFTS AND MEMORIALS - To seek and accept all records, manuscripts moneys
or any other valuable materials or gifts in the name of the Society that
are of genealogical and/or historical interest. To acquire legal release
from donor in preparation for selling microfilmed, printed records or printed
manuscripts. To organize, index and record on cards all records and materials
in preparation for deposit in Genealogy and Local History Department of the
Fort Worth Public Library.
MERCHANDISING [a.k.a. Book Store] - Responsible for sales of books and
other materials approved by the Board of Directors.
NOMINATING - In June a nominating committee shall be appointed consisting
of five members. It shall be the duty of this committee to nominate a candidate
for each elected office of the Board.
PUBLICITY - Send or take notices of each monthly meeting to area newspapers
with time, date, place and speaker and any other pertinent information. Send
articles of information concerning workshops to libraries, area newspapers,
other societies, editors of genealogical articles and quarterlies.
PUBLISHING - Recommends publishing projects to the Board of Directors
and to expedite the publishing and sale of approved publications. The committee
shall examine all material offered to the society for publishing, exclusive
of Footprints, obtain bids and determine publishing costs. Arrange for printing,
binding, copyrighting, advertising and sale of Board approved publications.
REGISTRATION - Greets and registers all members and guests as they enter
for meetings and keep records as to number present at regular meeting. Sends
copy of members and guests registered to President and Membership Chair within
ten days following meeting. Awards door prizes when available. Keeps society
banners and displays at each meeting. Distributes ballots at October meeting
to members verified as members in good standing.
RESEARCH - Assists members in a limited way with Texas research.
SEMINAR - Secures a speaker, date, place and subject and submits to the
President by August.
